Dear fashionizers, good news for you from Madonna! The famous singer has prepared pleasant surprises for fans of her well known brand, Material Girl, in the upcoming fall season. Madonna’s teen brand is preparing to expand, bringing lots of fabulous products, from jeans wear to party dresses, intimates and beauty products.
With the fashion line not so much exciting, the beauty line is really worth of attention. The new beauty line is supposed to include nail polishes, lip glosses and glosses, body sprays and lotions, set to debut on August 15. “It was so much fun getting to pick all of my favorite scents for the Material Girl body products and lip glosses.” Lourdes, Madonna’s 14-year-old daughter, who is also public face of the brand and has a great role in the creative direction and design, told WWD: “The body products have fun names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, Midnight Magnolia and Sinful Sugar. I chose scents that I loved.”
Lanie List, chief merchandising officer at Iconix Brand Group, stated: “Lola is 14, but she lives in New York City and has a very famous mom, so she has a very sophisticated eye. Lola is here once a month and sometimes more. She brings stuff from her own closet for inspiration. For the bath and body products she probably had 100 scents in front of her. She has a very mature approach to product development.”
However, she also said that everything is supervised by Madonna herself: “Madonna definitely has creative input also. It’s a collaboration between the two. If Lola goes to a place with an idea that Madonna doesn’t think is appropriate for the brand, she’ll veto it. She’s a branding expert”.
The new Material Girl beauty line will also include eye palettes, which will be launched a month later, on September 15, along with dresses. According to Madonna, Iconix Brand Group Inc. and Macy’s, the new outwear will be available only on October 15.
