A not so surprising comeback of floral prints is expected for the fall/winter of 2012/2013. The floral trends will get darker, edgier and more luxurious compared to the previous season, but nonetheless still cheer you up, give a fabulous mood. There’s a slight chance that the previous ones you have can still be useful, so don’t make rough changes in your wardrobe yet.
It’s amazing how floral motifs on textiles and lace fabrics merge smoothly and give a fresh, totally classic look. As Lucinda Chambers (Vogue’s fashion director/editor) said: “Flocked fabrics and lace overlays added an air of ornateness, putting a fresh spin on the idea of flowers in winter”.
Let’s take a look at a few fashion houses and their overviews on floral trends:
Dolce & Gabbana: gorgeous designs of intricate, dark floral embroidery seen on dresses, jumpsuits, bags and shoes.
Burberry Prorsum: the floral designs are more of muted mostly seen on monotone outfits.
Temperley London outlines itself with bold and bright flower additions- very cheerful and girly.
McQ represents us more of a feminine and lovely side of floral prints seen on full skirts- very edgy, complicated and interesting at the same time.
Marc Jacobs: an interesting balance between floral prints (not so dominant in this collection) on rather flamboyant items.
