The first day of New York Fashion Week was full of vibrant shades and prints, amazing texture and cool layering with hipster and hippie surf influences. All this speak about the latest Richard Chai Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which for the first time, combined women’s and men’s fashion together. Strongly focusing on urban casual style, the amazing Richard Chai Spring/Summer 2012 collection shows a new approach to streetwear.
The new Richard Chai SS 2012 fashion line features sleeveless dresses, mix-and-match sportswear pieces, ‘90s-inspired lightweight outerwear, droopy blouses and biker shorts for women, and crumpled sports coats, funnel coats, mesh t-shirts, un-tucked dress-shirts, relaxed blazers, cuffed cotton pants, sizable shorts and plenty more. The colorful kaleidoscope of coral, arctic blue, plum, tangerine and green created kind of freaky, fresh and extremely lively atmosphere on the catwalk, while the whimsical stripes and ikats, cheery pink and blue florals spoke about the playful and lovely fashion spirit, lingering in the air.
Chai also presented a line of utilitarian precepts in familiar grays and olives for those not ready to wear colorful pieces, also an array of bucolic dresses embellished with Swarovski riveting that will make you the princess at the ball. And the bold and vivid makeup of the models, including cobalt blue or purple lips and tangerine eye makeup brought a certain touch of edgy and sharp attitude.
Putting his great experience into good use at some of the world’s most renowned fashion houses, such as Lanvin, Armani Exchange, Donna Karan or Marc Jacobs, Richard Chai managed to earn a well-deserved spot for his spring/summer 2012 fashion line in the flourishing New York fashion scene. Backstage, Chai confessed that he was dreaming of a vacation, which gave birth to his lush and island-tinged fantastic collection!
