Your hearing is fragile. So don’t listen loudly. Listen carefully. This is what Miley Cyrus states in the “Listen Carefully” campaign. We all love music, live with it and listen to it all the time. When our favorite music is on, we put on the headphones and make it as loud as possible, fully escaping from the world into the music life. But have you ever though how dull and awful it would be without the capability of listening? If not, it’s high time to pay attention to how loudly you usually listen to music, as our hearing is extremely fragile, and the extremely loud sounds destroy the tiny hair cells inside our ears, resulting in hearing loss. This is what Miley Cyrus and the Starkey Hearing Foundation struggle for, launching their “Listen Carefully” campaign, the main reason of which is acquainting the young with the importance of sound. Therefore, begin make the sound lower and protect your hearing!
“As an artist, I want to make sure fans are able to experience the magic of music as it was intended. By just lowering the volume and using the right protection for your ears, hearing loss can be prevented, which means never losing the ability to enjoy the sound of a guitar, a beautiful lyric or a favorite song,” the 18-year-old beautiful star stated.
The latest statistics show that teen hearing loss has increased for over 31%, and now one among five teens have got this problem. The main objective of the “Listen Carefully” campaign is to teach how useful and good it is to listen to your favorite music in a lower sound and never suffer hearing loss.
“With 6.5 million teens recognized with some level of hearing loss, Better Hearing and Speech Month is a great time for us to inform parents and young people about just how fragile one’s hearing is and the need to protect it,” said Bill Austin, Chief Executive Officer of Starkey Laboratories and Founder of the Starkey Hearing Foundation. “The majority of teen hearing loss is preventable, and it is our hope that the Listen Carefully campaign, with support from entertainers like Miley Cyrus, can make a difference.”
Miley is strongly for this campaign. She joined it in Haiti, when the Starkey Hearing Foundation was distributing hearing aids to the ones in need. The foundation has distributed over 500,000 hearing aids since 2000 in the countries, lying between the USA and Vietnam.
You can also contribute to this campaign between April 4 and June 15 2011, and even win a unique experience of “Listen Carefully Sweepstakes”. This will give you a brilliant chance to meet Miley Cyrus and join her for a soundcheck on July 24, at the Starkey Hearing Foundation’s Annual Awards, in Minneapolis.
