Although she has met international fame and recognition and managed to gain a huge army of fans thanks to her great talent and non-conformist style, Lady Gaga admits that she suffered from depression at the age of 19. In the exclusive interview “The Conversation”, she opened about her loneliness and said: “I was very depressed when I was 19. I decided to pursue music, so I dropped out of school and I told my parents I didn’t want any money from them. I began to cherish my loneliness. I would go back to my apartment every day and I would just sit there. It was quiet and it was lonely. It was still. It was just my piano and myself. I had a television and I would leave it on all the time just to feel like somebody was hanging out with me.”
It seems like Gaga found some relief in cocaine, however some time later she realized that using drugs isn’t the way to fill the void in her life. She told Amanda that: “I started doing cocaine because it was like the drug was my friend. I never did it with other people. It’s such a terrible way to fill that void, because it just adds to that void, because it’s not real.”
Actually, Lady Gaga isn’t the first celebrity, who has confessed having used drugs in the past. One of other celebrities, who has done the same is singer Demi Lovato. However, although all people need some help to realize that they aren’t on the right path, Gaga admits that she herself realized it all and struggled to kick her bad habit away. She says that: “I woke up one day and was like, ‘You’re an a##hole. You’re not an artist. If you were a real f$%#ing artist, you’d be focused on your music. You wouldn’t be spending your money on the white devil. ”
