Regardless of the price and quality of your beauty products, everything expires one day, after which not only it’s impossible to feel the same effect, but also it becomes dangerous to use such products. Except for the homemade beauty products, which usually get expired sooner, other products purchased at a store feature some signs that hint about the expiration dates. To know it well when your beauty products are expired, read through these easy beauty tips and learn to recognize the signs early, before outdated products will damage your skin.
Hydroquinone Creams
These creams usually have an extremely short lifespan and show the most visible signs of going bad. If your cream is getting brown, that’s the vivid sign to throw it away. To prolong the life of such products, you can keep them in the fridge or choose air-tight containers.
Acne Products
Like the hydroquinone creams, acne products also don’t last for long, and it’s recommended to keep them in the fridge too. In normal circumstances, ingredients like Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid keep their properties from four months to half a year.
Conventional glycolic acid based products
Used for their exfoliating properties, such ingredients are used a lot as a face mask or peel. When they get outdated, they are likely to cause irritations when applied to the skin. It’s recommended to use such products for about three months.
Moisturizers
Things vary depending on the moisturizer type. If the moisturizer contains anti-aging ingredients, it expires sooner. However, a simple moisturizer last for about a year. To avoid any bacterial contamination, make sure to wash your hands well before applying such products.
Retinoids
The best anti-aging ingredients known, retinoids are effective between nine months and a year. After this time, they are useless. For maximum efficiency, store them properly.
