The color virus is really spreading fast and it has even reached Ricardo Tisci, the creative designer for the luxury brand Givenchy, who stepped out of his signature dark Gothic style and went for a delicate toned down approach by choosing a rather restricted palette of vanilla, nude pink, khaki and lilac-pink for his spring 2012 collection, showcased during Paris Fashion Week. Simply divine, elegant with a subtle understated touch and innocent, the Givenchy spring 2012 collection might lack prints and bright colors, yet it has all the trappings of Givenchy opulence.
Contrast through texture and fabric choices, rather than flashy tones and catchy prints is the new style strategy adopted by Ricardo Tisci for the upcoming warm season, which will be literally flooded with uber-elegant staples that exude versatility with a modern vibe and high class. The Givenchy spring/summer 2012 collection enchanted with its unwritten standard, presenting a beautiful array of outfits in a much relaxed approach, spiced up with the right amount of flash created through sequin embroidered pieces that brought the ideal finish to the strong line.
Dramatic ruffles, form-fitting silhouettes, tailored jackets, eye-catching textural details, metallic touches for a more spectacular effect, sheer details and statement necklaces dominated on the catwalk at Givenchy, talking about a romantic, yet refined line, which came as a great surprise from the label. Exotic skin touches have been used for particular outfits, however this style tendency remains quite modest. Touches of asymmetry have also been carefully used to create a balanced edginess that makes all those pieces so adorable. Black tones that have become a trademark for the designer yielded to ivory, khaki, salmon pink, pale orange hues, but also subtle touches of timeless black.
As far as accessories go, the looks were completed with ankle strap sandals, chain clutches or thin belts that spiced things up without making all those outfits stand out. Versatile yet edgy and luxurious, the new Givenchy spring 2012 collection is surprisingly wearable, therefore has a great potential to become the favorite source of inspiration for a wide range of stylish women.
