On 12 February 1947, Christian Dior launched his first landmark fashion collection for the spring/summer season. After the editor-in-chief of Harper’s Bazaar Carmel Snow’s exclamation “It’s such a New Look!”, the collection got the name “New Look” and demonstrated a turning point in women’s dresses after the Second World War. Since then, Dior Haute Couture managed to remain the ideal symbol of elegance and exquisiteness in the fashion industry.
Now the luxury fashion houses presents the latest creations of Christian Dior in the new ‘Dior Couture’ Book, made by famous French photographer Patrick Demarchelier. The book shows off more than one hundred outstanding pieces including incredible gowns and dresses from the entire era of Christian Dior haute couture, designed by Dior himself.
The 240-page Dior book presents not only the splendid creations of Dior, but also those of his successors Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan and John Galliano.
Speaking about the project, Demarchelier said that, “When you’re a fashion photographer, you must inspire a dream. With Dior Haute Couture, the dream is already there.”
Shot in such wonderful locations as Shanghai, Times Square, New York, the grand staircase of the Paris Opera House, and the garden of the Musée Rodin, the ‘Dior Couture’ Book features some of the world-famous top models, like Gisele Bundchen, Karlie Kloss, Magdalena Frackowiak and Sasha Pivovarova, but also charming actress Charlize Theron. Artist Jeff Koons wrote the preface of the book that goes on sale starting November at £70/ $112/ €82.
