There are certain fashion shows that arouse the strong desire in you to change the way you usually dress and one of such shows is that of Céline. Presented at Paris Fashion Week, the Céline Spring 2012 Collection concentrates on the idea of simplicity, minimalism and subtlety. A touch of volume, architectural shapes, clean cuts and perfect tailoring are the main ingredients describing the wonderful Céline collection, which teaches us to think as simple, as possible in the new season.
“It was all about the proportion. Really working on a woman’s form,” said Phoebe Philo, the creative director for Céline, immediately after the show. Despite its minimalist, almost colorless approach, the Céline spring 2012 collection is extremely powerful and impressive, full of respectable and extremely wearable pieces both for daytime and casual looks. Balancing the minimal touch of the collection with voluminous skirts and jackets featuring ruffles and pleats, the Céline designer presents highly modern staples that have a great potential to instantly become old-faithful classics.
The Céline spring 2012 collection once again convinces everyone that simple, understating outfits can make you look effortlessly elegant and alluring. Relaxed silhouettes, clean lines and a subtle style are superior over eye-popping embellishments and colors at Céline, when it comes to looking chic. There is a strong elegant flair in the collection that instantly becomes explicit through cotton trench coats, wide 7/8ths pants, peplums which Philo called “basques”, cropped pants, tunics, pleated and pencil skirts, shirts and shirt dresses.
In terms of color, the Céline spring 2012 collection lays the stress on black, white, red, burgundy, and forest green tones, but also uses color block son a leather shell. Silhouettes are kept neat and simple, waists are high, and pants feature extra wide legs. Envelope bags, cuffs, chunky platform heels with ankle straps and chic clutches complement the new Céline ensembles.
As the Céline spring 2012 collection proves, minimalism can certainly be a stunning source of inspiration. Therefore skim through the looks and get inspired for the upcoming season!
