Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 – London Fashion Week

Considering the fact that Burberry is the iconic British label, its show during London Fashion Week was far the most anticipated one. The Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 collection was definitely amazing, and it couldn’t be otherwise! With a subtle nostalgic feeling, the same devotion to classy elegant designs, feminine silhouettes and fabulous color touches, the legendary brand certainly conquered everyone’s hearts at the fashion week.

Elegance, subtle textual mixtures, amazing color combinations and creative accessory choices were some of the main concepts noticed in the Burberry Prorsum Spring 2012 fashion show. The incredible presentation of the luxury label brought together a number of A-list celebrities, such as Kanye West, Andy Murray, Samantha Cameron or Sienna Miller, who expressed their viewpoint about the collection: “It was un-be-lievable!”
Christopher Bailey himself characterized his gorgeous collection with quite a modest statement, which is ”joyous, upbeat, nostalgic”. With a few classic elements, the Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2012 collection gives preference to simple combinations that stand out through color, print and texture. Silhouettes-embracing alternatives and classy airy mid length skirts are both present in the collection. With a high accent on the waist and a careful selection of accessories, there is a great focus on small, impressive details.
Eclectic prints, stripes, beads, knits, ruffles or subtle pleats are the main style tendencies for the upcoming season, according to the luxury brand. Color blocks will still be on, requiring some creativeness and promising to dazzle everyone, when done in the right way. Peep toe pumps, wooden necklaces and practical roomy handbags are some of the accessories that come to accomplish the breathtaking outfits.
There was one thing really surprising though, which was the domination of rather warm clothing pieces, not really appropriate for the spring/summer season. This may be connected with the English weather however. And maybe Africa also had some impact over the entire fashion line, as there were some tribal touches in forms of wild prints too.
The focus of the collection seems to be coats, as they come in a rich variety, like classic trenches (Burberry’s signature), cropped jackets with raffia on hoods, and parkas perfect for the rainy weather. Multi-colored peaked caps with pompoms on top in natural fabrics completed the “wintery” looks, which were in a great contrast with the sandals richly decorated with beads and other catchy details.
One more interesting fact, which is Burberry Prorsum showcased all the looks from their spring/summer 2012 collection via Twitter even a week before the actual show, about which Christopher Bailey stated: “Twitter is instantaneous and I love the idea that streaming a show can be in many different forms. This collection is all about the most detailed hand crafted pieces and fabric innovation, creating a beautiful physical experience that is communicated digitally in dynamic and diverse ways and I love balancing those two worlds.”
Whatever! The Burberry Prorsum spring 2012 collection is definitely one that will inspire lots of voguish fashionizers in the upcoming warm season!
