New fashion season and new celebrities are getting involved in the fashion industry. This time it’s Anne Hathaway’s turn to bewitch the world with her first ever campaign for Tod’s new Signature handbag collection. Shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott in London, Anne manages to show off her undeniable beauty and incontestable glamour, while striking a sensual pose for the campaign.
On the choice of the brand, Derek Lam, the company’s creative director says: “Anne Hathaway is the perfect representative of Tod’s new Signature Collection. What makes this collaboration with Anne so perfect is that not only is she a young actress with accomplished roles to her credit, she is also one to watch for her creative choices. She generates excitement based on the quality of her work, modern beauty and intelligence.”
According to him, Anne exudes “traditional elegance and beauty with a lively, modern spirit, a perfect fit with Tod’s, which prides itself on bringing together the traditional craftsmanship of Italian artisans with the best in contemporary design.”
Anne also expressed her great appreciation for the brand’s products: “I have been a longtime fan of Tod’s and was very excited to be a part of exploring a new side of their identity with the launch of their Signature Collection. These are bags that age with you and never let you down … As a result, they don’t grow older, they only grow better, just like a woman.”
Della Valle, chairman and chief executive officer of Tod’s SpA, told WWD that the brand has done everything to create details that will make the bags easily recognizable and hardly replaceable. “We’ve been working on this project for several years, to select the best materials and isolate a recognizable hide that will be representative of the brand”. Moreover, the Tod’s bags have “distinctive reliefs” that sets them apart from others.
The new Tod’s bags advertised by Anne Hathaway are undoubtedly an investment for your wardrobe, as these vividly colored handbags retail for more than $1000. More specifically, a clutch retails at $1,165, while a shopping bag is priced at $2,165. The advertisements for the line will be officially released in October, when the collection will hit the stores worldwide.
