After Alexander MxQueen’s death Sarah Burton became the new creative director of this world-famous brand. This year at Paris Fashion Week, she presented her first collection for the upcoming season, which definitely stood out in its extraordinary way, containing a fascinating spirit of unreal and imaginary world. Sarah Burton proved that she can really keep the same refinement and unlimited creativeness of the brand, that much peculiar to the legendary designer.
McQueen Spring/Summer 2011 collection included rare dresses decorated with ivy leaves in leather, many handmade butterfly wings, medieval and Gothic gowns of pheasant feathers, ending in smoke-gray ostrich feathers, “corn dolly” dresses in raffia and tailcoated-pant suits with horse hair spines, containing some features of dramatic silhouettes, which created a unique atmosphere of romance and harmonious color mix. The designer shoes and fashion accessories were also quite eye-catching in their unique design, perfectly matching with the fascinating clothing.
Besides the unusual extraordinary dresses, which perhaps only several bold women, like Lady Gaga, would wear in everyday life and on special occasions, there were also a number of fabulous evening gowns, light cocktail dresses of soft and silky textures, in black, white and golden colors, semi-formal dresses, stylish mini dresses, white suites matched with silky tops, and warm weather outfits.
The audience kept on applauding Sarah Burton for her great imagination and gorgeous collection of amazing handmade clothes, each of which deserves a special attention. The Chief Executive Officer and the owner of McQueen label Francois Henri-Pinault, and his wife Salma Hayek were also among the audience sitting on the front row during the presentation at Paris Fashion Week.
