I guess that’s because the dopamine high you get from something hateful is very much stronger that the one from happy things for some people and then it’s of course addictive. While I am also rational enough to not engage in such behaviours I really have to admit that the dopamine high I get from hateful interactions is stronger than any other emotion I ever felt in my life. Personally I accepted it’s just how my brain is wired and it’s unfortunate but I have to avoid getting this dopamine just like ex drug addicts avoid their biggest high. When something really good happens to me, my brain goes “oh, great… anyway…” and when it’s about aggression and hate it feels like an explosion of feeling strong and good and invincible in my head, it’s really like being high. Has always been like that unfortunately.
