how are the hotdogs in The Union? did the war help the Cubs win the world series again? Is there still quality cheese?
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 73 points
1. Pretty decent considering wasteland standards but normal hogs are pretty rare to come by now so they have to resort to using Entelodont meat (hell pigs) instead. 2. The Union’s official history declares that the Cubs won the last World Series before the world ended 3. The Union’s agricultural philosophy is geared more towards quantity over quality, if you want quality cheese (which may even improve your gut health) you have better luck finding it in the Commune of Cornell in the Ivy Compact (which are based on the 8 Ivy league universities)
U
UnIncorrectt • 12 points
Would Unioners go to Cornell for cheese just because it’s closer or because upstate NY has good cheese? I would think that the Common of Dartmouth would have better cheddar (and maple syrup) due to the proximity to Vermont.
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 9 points
Officially speaking, the Union is hostile towards the Ivy Compact, but sometimes acquisition officers of the Union would covertly make deals with other factions. The Jarldom of Dartmouth is located in a frozen hellscape so I don’t know if they’ll still be able to make cheese or maple syrup.

How in the hell are there Entelodonts running around? Is it Daeodon? Are there any other anachronistic critters, Miocene or otherwise?
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 22 points
When the Fortis bombs dropped, the reality tears were also tears in time and space so some creatures and plants from the prehistoric era popped through those tears as well. Some creatures are a mix of both modern and prehistoric animals. Other animals that roam the Fortis world include Sabertooth Rexes, Glyptodonts, Terrorbirds, and literal dragons (mythical creatures also came through as well since the unconscious of millions of humans were amplified when the fortis bombs fell). Shit like dinosaurs and flying whales also exist.

This is a really cool idea that could have brilliant narrative consequences and is so vivid and imaginitive. Please do write your thing or whatever medium it is you want to get this out in; it really has legs.
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 7 points
Thank you so much! I’m so glad that you think my ideas are cool!! I want to turn this into a novel or web series because I can’t draw to save my life. Do you know anywhere that I can share my story?
D
deanydog • 2 points
Because writing is slow, laborious and lonely, I would recommend joining a local writing group for accountability, feedback and artistic companionship. Usually other writers who get to know your work are good sources of ideas about what to do with your story once you’ve written it. Btw I was really enjoying imagining some of the other things (other than monsters) that might have entered the world due to the imagination side of the bombs. Helpful narrative devices could be part of that too, like… I dunno… Smoke rings that deliver messages… Birds that can co-operate to tow people… And things from video games that people have been playing and stuff from pop culture… Anything really. Just some random ideas for you.

I hate to say it but your lore is unbelievable. Wisconsin’s culture is literally built around cheese. Cheese and beer. That’s like the one thing people know about us. And our cheeses are quality and quantity. The sun could explode tomorrow and Wisconsinites would be running to the store to loot cheese.

What tf happened to Florida?
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 44 points
When the Fortis bombs fell during the end of the prolonged WW2 it caused massive reality tears to pop up all over the place as well as seismic shifts. Florida breaking off the mainland was one of those things.

1: How’s Mexico doing? 2: With Socialism Taking over Cali, how’s Vegas doing? 3: Does the Conch Republic exist here? If yes, what are they doing? 4: What did the Mormons do? And what are they doing now? I also took some time to try guesstimate what is going on in other nations ,and try to produce a hypothetical map of whats happening outside these areas to give you some ideas: https://preview.redd.it/sojcedd52tjg1.png?width=1500&format=png&auto=webp&s=6ead976b4e033f9d067e6e8b43d424498a5bb65a The “SRs” i added would probably be like, hastily set up states by California, kind of like the Watsaw pact. Here’s what I came up with, and I wish you a happy worldbuilding!

btw, just to clarify, this map isn’t meant to be like a “better” version of your map. Just my take on what a completed oen could look like.

If this is post collapse, why do so many of the boundaries follow modern day state lines. The rough lines that follow rivers make sense, because rivers have always marked humanity’s territory boundaries. But every straight line on a map was a political settlement. If the United States doesn’t exist, then why would they continue using the boundaries that were drawn by the US. This includes how Texas and California would nearly immediately have a fuzzy border with Mexico without the central government of the US.
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 8 points
I’ll definitely rework the borders now that you said that , but I drew the borders of the western countries like that because I haven’t fleshed them out as much as the eastern countries. This was a really rough map I made this morning because I REALLY wanted to get my world shown to other people. Thank you so much for your feedback!
M
mrfuzzytheslug • 2 points
whenever you do rework the borders, just make sure to pay attention to the existing rivers and mountain ranges in the area, a good chunk of state borders naturally follow those (particularly rivers) so there probably wouldn’t be too much reason to change those natural dividers in the wasteland
K
Key_Day_7932 • 14 points
I don’t think the Gulf Coalition would extend that far up into Georgia and South Carolina.
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 6 points
I was thinking about that too. They’re more of a maritime trading power and not a land based power. I drew the borders like that because I thought it would make the Deep South look empty 🙁
S
silver_tongued_devil • 13 points
Just a note, while the mighty mississipi is mighty, don’t underestimate the ohio and the arkansas, they’re both pretty big rivers that attach to it.
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 8 points
Ooooo, I could definitely make those areas also have their own River Barons as well…Thank you so much for the feedback!
P
PG908 • 3 points
Yep, highly encourage the river barons to follow the major tributaries and probably have influence up through the Erie Canal or more

I do like how it’s almost basically Fallout and it’s regions post bombs. Its not intentional but it’s very interesting how similar it is to the lore they crafted. https://preview.redd.it/3q8sfey99tjg1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf10372c85e69f7fd9014eb9d4fee8ef2c0e130b

Why is the upper peninsula of Michigan not a part of the union.
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 7 points
The peninsula is kinda of a frozen hellscape ( I just made that up because I thought that it was part of Canada)
P
paleobear1 • 5 points
It’s ok most make that mistake. For some reason everyone forgets about the UP being a part of Michigan. (The best part of you ask me)
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 2 points
Knowing the Union they’ll still try to take it anyway since their long term goal is restoring the pre war United States and reclaiming all of its territory.
A
Afraid_Reputation_51 • 3 points
It’s worth doing as the UP has significant metal ore deposits. You can see its biggest iron mine, near Ishpeming, from space.
K
KaityKat117 • 3 points
As a former Troll (Lower Peninsula Michigan), you’re not too far off. We sometimes like to call our northern neighbors “Southern Canada”. Also I’m sure it being a frozen hellscape wouldn’t stop the yoopers anyway.
M
MonkeyChoker80 • 9 points
Why is it that the East Coast has new boundaries that basically regrouped everything, while Texas and further West are slavishly following the old State borders? Why don’t the Lone Star Republic grab part of New Mexico or Louisiana? Or (since they really wanted Hoover Dam) why didn’t the California group also grab the upper corner of Arizona as well? — Also, Utah is fully part of the Iron Horse Nations? Wouldn’t the Mormons up in the top half have fought tooth and nail to keep their holy land and temples and stuff?
O
Ok-Airport6259 • 4 points
That is some really good feedback that I haven’t considered at all actually. I think I definitely need to rework the borders of the western factions a bit more The Mormons fighting tooth and nail to keep their independence would be an amazing conflict to write about as well. Thank you so much for your suggestions, I’ll definitely implement them!
