Ayton does not have the tenacity, intensity and will to dominate the paint. He plays like a guard for some reason. Soft. That’s mental. No player will make him better than he already is if he doesn’t want to be aggressive.

He does not play like a guard at all. He prefers the jump hook and shots within five feet over the dunking drive. If that’s his game, that’s his game. But he’s a fine rebounder and can fight for putbacks. Austin feeds Ayton to get him to score within his range. We saw it at the start of the season.

I mean what else did you want? We couldn’t realistically sign anyone else. Ayton is getting peanuts on his contract. Personally I’ll accept the occasional rough stretch. He’s a huge upgrade from Hayes, who is fine as a backup but made me want to claw my eyes out as a starter.
