At the launch of the UT collection for Uniqlo, Lulu confessed that she is extremely excited to work with the brand. “We received a call out of the blue and I was absolutely thrilled as I am such a huge Uniqlo fan so incredibly aware of the brand and their customer – I jumped at the opportunity, we have a lot of support in Japan so a great collaborative project – my Lulu Guinness UT collection was the biggest seller in the new Uniqlo Ginza store,” she said.
Speaking about the design of these super-voguish, creative tees, the designer said that, “I wanted the Uniqlo UT collaboration to follow my mainline handbag collection as much as possible, so that it truly represents the Lulu Guinness brand. I looked at my main icons, and also my inspirations for the Lulu Guinness spring/summer 2012 collection, and pulled together my favourite designs which I then worked into the T-shirt design. My iconic lips were important as was my Cameo and my favourite print, Doll Face which was inspired by Peggy Moffitt.”
