They get credit per person they bring in, not per person that results in a lawful deportation. Even if they still have to let them go after, that wrongful detainment counts towards their quotas.

I’ve heard they have quotas to meet and I’m guessing the quotas are more about junk numbers of “arrests” then anything actually useful so they will go after everyone they can find who is an immigrant who might be illegal in some capacity. I posted this in a different thread and I want to make sure it gets seen here too. Liam and his father crossed legally at a designated border crossing and are documented asylum seekers. They are 100% legal in the eyes of the law and this is a 100% illegal abduction by ICE. There were legal family members present offering to keep Liam and ICE refused.

DHS tweeted that the boy had been abandonned by his father when ICE approached him. Then ICE came out later and said and ICE officer was assigned to watch him as his father was being arrested. So he ‘abandonned’ him by being arrested by ICE.

Exactly. And do you know what the basis of that claim is? At first they claimed the father ran away and they had no choice but to take custody of the child. Which they could have done without actually straight up fucking arresting him, which is what they actually did. Then a couple of hours later they changed it to admitting that they arrested the father. And then used that to justify calling the child abandoned even though they were relatives with them there who could have taken care of the child. It is a straight up onion of evil, where every time you pull back a layer of evil there is another fucking layer below it.
