Rob Ford was the buffoonish mayor of a city, not the leader of a country, and he certainly didn’t impact your life in the States. My dad’s lost his job directly due to tariffs. Some of my friends are in a terrible spot due to the economic slowdown here, people with lives and families. I work in education and last year some kids were asking our employees if the US would invade. I don’t have any warm feelings towards the US rn, don’t blame you for loving your home but don’t expect kudos from anyone for it.

It makes sense that you’re patriotic, you live there and see your home, friends, all the good parts of the US, etc. Outside of the US, your patriotism right now in Canada makes people think of the 51st state shit and economic war on Canada to make us submit.
