Well it’s officially an ice tunnel crisis for Germany. Forget the Bundeswehr, we need 100 billion for the sledders and bobs.
T
top_of_the_table • 54 points
Well, at least the men are 1-2-3 in their competition at half.
S

Very very close though, with how bad Ammours second run was

We need to call in the Bundestag immediately. This is not acceptable.
Y
YoungandBeautifulll • 2 points
Both of the Americans medaled at the last Olympics, so it’s not surprising in this event.
F

The men are dominating so far though.

Awesome to see her finally grab the gold in her 5th Olympics after 3 silvers and 2 bronze

Holy moly! That’s some kinda company to keep! So cool that she’s from my hometown 👍🏼
M
Main_Photo1086 • 130 points
That was so incredible. I knew it would be super close but I thought Nolte could still pull it off as she was getting faster towards the end. So so happy Meyers Taylor got her gold.
E
EchoSkillet • 51 points
Another 0.04 difference margin.
E
EvenMoreCoconuts • 66 points
I can’t believe the margins in sliding sports. Literally one bump could cost you everything.
B
bean930 • 18 points
Especially considering that 0.04 seconds is cumulative over 4 runs.
M
Main_Photo1086 • 31 points
I try to think about the minuscule moment in time that correlates to 0.04 seconds and how that would be so unnoticeable, but here it’s everything.
A
Ange1ofD4rkness • 11 points
Especially with how they have to drive it. You are pulling strings pretty much
B
Better-Temporary-146 • 6 points
It’s a fascinating sport. You’re competing against perfection
Y

Extremely similar to sports like Formula One, one mistake with understeer or oversteer will cost you a ton of places. Really need to watch more Bob Sledding even outside of the Olympics
S
Scared_Cow9483 • 2 points
That is wild
L
Longjumping-Fly-8014 • 33 points
Wow both women over 40 kicking ass and winning medals amazing
F
Fyre2387 • 7 points
Somehow it’s always comforting to know there’s at least one more Olympics with gold medalists older than I am.

.04 seconds over 4 runs is crazy

you made me remember this, Nagano 98 https://preview.redd.it/pz73mhr4cxjg1.png?width=775&format=png&auto=webp&s=5dc4fc9a749b135bf78d057e40b7f181532a4359

Can’t forget Pyeongchang 2018 https://preview.redd.it/yufnfaqmjxjg1.jpeg?width=1344&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bf4c35ca16e6bc1d9699c3dab40fe8bb1c9e6edb I’ll never forget how quick the Germans were to react and run up to hug the Canadians, celebrating together. Great sportsmanship all around.

If I got a nickle for every time Canada won gold in the two-man in a tie…

Ange1ofD4rkness • 49 points
I am pretty sure someone heard me as I was cheering her run on the whole time. What’s crazy is Humphries seemed to run flawless, while Taylor had a few small things … and she still did it, insane! (I was worried, the Germans own the track, making this so much more exciting, as if I wasn’t enough she got her first gold) I love how both the US women have their kids with them there too. I swear, someone is cutting onions (I sadly missed her 3rd run, so I don’t know how Taylor ran it).
G
Guardax • 30 points
Taylor and Humphries both tied for the track record on the third one it was about flawless
A
Ange1ofD4rkness • 7 points
Yeah I saw the results, I sadly only got to see Humphries actual run. But That’s still wild they tied. Like it blew my mind. I don’t know, but if they aren’t running a 2 women sled … man that sucks
J
JKC_due • 6 points
All three of our women pilot their own 2-woman teams.
A

Works for me!
H

their running two man sleds in which they will have a partner, each of them will be the driver
A
Ange1ofD4rkness • 1 points
Sweet!
E

I think Taylor’s faster start gives her some wiggle room that Humphries has to make up for. It’s amazing that Taylor still has one of the fastest starts even in her 5th olympics.
M
metroatlien • 37 points
THAT WAS NUTS. Shout out to Germany’s Nolte though. That was a nail biter.
G
geoltechnician • -25 points
She shit the bed. Meyers didn’t. All glory to Meyers.
G
Groundbreaking_War52 • 5 points
Or Meyers Taylor is just better?
G
geoltechnician • 2 points
A 9th place run in your final run is the definition of shitting the bed. I watched her timing on ISBF.ORG during the final heat. She shit the bed.
G
Groundbreaking_War52 • 3 points
Whatever makes you feel better – the better sledder won.
G
geoltechnician • 2 points
Read my original comment. I said congrats for being consistent. I didn’t say the better slider lost. When you have 3 great runs and a 9th place run..You’ve shit the bed.
S
STheShadow • 2 points
4th and 9th on the second day certainly doesn’t deserve a medal
N
NeverSober1900 • 61 points
Man this was a great competition. Both Americans dropped track records on run 3 to put them in place. Nolte made just that one mistake and Meyers Taylor was able to hang on. 11 hundredths to start the race was the gap and it never got further than that. 4 hundredths to decide it all
A
Ange1ofD4rkness • 13 points
We need another Night Train!
G
geoltechnician • 2 points
You just witnessed it.
A
Ange1ofD4rkness • 2 points
Night Train was a 4 person
G
geoltechnician • 1 points
So you don’t like seeing women compete in bobsled?
A
Ange1ofD4rkness • 2 points
No, the [Night Train](https://www.teamusa.com/profiles/team-night-train) was specifically 4 man bobsled. I made my reference because I now wanna see us with a 4-man sled, on top of this victory
S
STheShadow • 2 points
If you get the 4th best and 9th best time on the second day you made not just one mistake. Normall you should get at best a 5th place for that
