The keyword “AMC” is currently trending due to a significant spike in search interest, reaching over 20,000 searches, primarily influenced by recent news developments related to AMC theaters. One noteworthy event is the sale of a former AMC theater property in Bloomington, which was acquired for nearly $5.3 million. This transaction highlights shifts in real estate connected to AMC locations and likely prompted inquiries about the future of these venues and their impact on local communities.

Additionally, a reported robbery at an AMC theater in Edinburg, where a man was targeted for a $5,000 gold chain, has drawn public attention. Incidents like this attract searches as people seek to find out more about safety conditions in theaters and the broader implications of crime occurring in such venues.

Lastly, AMC Networks recently released the first official rock single from “The Vampire Lestat,” which might be generating curiosity about the project’s popularity and its connection to the AMC brand. As the entertainment industry continually evolves, new releases and collaborations can lead to increased searches as fans and interested parties look for more information.

I think the key will be working out a solid structure that doesn’t leave to many fans feeling alienated. Like I feel SA could absolutely field a competitive side, so they should be in the discussion at the least, but then the question is will it always be Vic Vs one other region? I think they need some kind of rotation, but the AFL is going to be reluctant to not have a Vic side in the game considering all the money, but I also don’t think the fans are behind it enough just yet to justify multiple games a year like League does.

gerira • 126 points
If it’s only WA, Vic and SA, and you only play one game a year, you could do last year’s winner vs a rotating challenger. So if anyone does knock Vic over, they get a chance to defend the title against the other non-Vic team.
I

I think that is a solid enough idea. Let SA have a shit next year

I agree that SA should have a shit whenever they like. I’ve never been for restricting that in any way. I hope that clarifies my position

SA get gather round. WA needs this more.
S

I’d much rather have gathered round than a single pointless exhibition game.

All good in theory until Vic do actually get knocked off.
G
gerira • 7 points
I honestly think that’s fine. If you lose, you wait 2 years to play. If you win, you play next year. I think even the AFL could accept Vic occasionally having one year off. It would build expectations for their next appearance. They’ve gone decades without any SOO games anyway
B
Boss_unicycle-560 • 6 points
That’s when the 4th team gets brought in so the vics don’t sit out a year
I
ImMalteserMan • 8 points
I think some fans feeling alienated might come from having no connection to some heated state based rivalry like the NRL have and by not having any real connection to any of the players. Adelaide had one player in the side, that is fine, am I supposed to cheer for Victoria because I was born here despite it is full of players that don’t play for my team? I love watching all of those players play on the opposition too but for me there was nothing on the line, no percentage, no ladder, no 4 points, found it very difficult to give a crap. It is a fun game no doubt but I feel that the novelty could wear off quickly. But give me this over ‘community series’ and ‘afl x’ any day

It’ll take time to have the spirit of the game again. At the least, it’s better than anything else we’ve had preseason.
F
Fassbinder75 • 2 points
I mean, the game hasn’t had rep footy for almost 30 years so it’s a reasonable sentiment. The NSW-QLD series started out as an odd novelty in the 80s as well and too some time to mature into that sport’s pinnacle. I love seeing the Big V, I’m really glad it’s back.

I mean I just supported WA cuz of Broudy instead of Vic So I see no reason to not reason not to support SA in a SA v Vic game
M
MacchuWA • 1 points
That’s an interesting perspective. Watching from WA, in a weird way I felt more invested than watching West Coast play. But I would very much like to see West Coast make more of an effort to recruit WA players, even if it means a slower rebuild or a longer wait between flags, so I recognize I may be an anomaly.

Saw somebody else’s suggestion – Vic/WA/SA/Allies, two games a year top two and bottom two, winner of bottom gets promoted, loser of gets relegated for next year. Think it could work!
B
Birdman__18 • 23 points
Including the allies is what killed SoO last time. The only games people care about are WA vs VIC and SA vs VIC. SoO has always been about the challenge of beating Victoria.
C
choofery • 14 points
I’d be keen to beat western Australia too. I also think of it as a victory to leave the Victorians out of something. Give the Grand Prix back.
K
Korasuka • 4 points
SA vs WA to decide who’s the superior opponent for Victoria
M
moosewiththumbs • 1 points
Grand Prix is hosted in the current state of the King of the Hill. Throw Tassie in the mix and see how Symmons Plains goes hosting F1.
B
Birdman__18 • 1 points
Yeah if we keep it to the 3 main states for now and see what works, that would be the best approach, I think.
X
xvf9 • 3 points
I think that having the second game clearly branded as the “B game” would help though. It won’t be Vic beating up on Allies unless the Allies can actually beat SA or WA. And I think Allies would be a very different proposition today with how much the game has grown in NSW/QLD/NT/Tas.

Though admittedly with Qld that’s cutting it fine with squad size and player availability and stuff. The handful of ACT and NT players might be needed to bolster both sides.
K
Kruxx85 • 1 points
There’s 44 players from NSW in the AFL right now? You’d be hard pressed to get a balanced team of elite players from those 44.
S
SameType9265 • 2 points
Allies in 1999 are a very different prospect to an Allies side today. Preference would be a NSW & QLD team but I don’t think a 6th team would work.
B
Boss_unicycle-560 • 0 points
The allies now days would be very strong, song top talent in qld and nsw plus some of the nt and tassie guys thrown in too
M
Massander • 3 points
I know Allies exists so everyone can be involved, but I don’t really get behind it. Unless QLD is strong enough to field its own side I’d rather it just be Vic, WA, SA. Even if they just copied the NRL’s homework and had a seperate QLD v NSW game, that would be better
X
xvf9 • 4 points
I actually feel like there is a bit of an identity representing the “non-footy states”. Probably something that could be built on. Like supporting Australia at the Winter Olympics, we can get around an underdog.
A
aaronetc • 1 points
Are there enough Tassie players to form a team? I like the idea posted elsewhere of a three-game series among the six states. You could start next year with SA/Vic as the top game, WA/QLD as the second, and NSW/Tas as the third, and then move winners up and losers down for the subsequent year. Or you exclude Tasmania and the second game loser cycles out for the next year.
I
Inside-Elevator9102 • 1 points
Does QLD have enough players to field a side?
M
Massander • 3 points
Barely, would get smashed against Vic but against NSW it would be a decent matchup
S
Snarwib • 1 points
33 players last year for Qld, 44 NSW, 7 ACT, 15 NT, 21 Tas
O

No reason they couldn’t have multiple SOO games on the same night in different cities
H
howhardisittogetanam • 2 points
imo they should split vic into metro and country based on their u18 club like in the u18 national comp, vic seemed to have significantly more depth than wa, and i’d expect that to be a thing forever. i don’t think it necessarily takes away from the state of origin theme that much either, it’s not an ingrained thing like in rugby league yet. add in some combination of qld/nsw/allies/indigenous all stars at some point and there are a few exhibition matches each year to drum up excitement before the season proper most importantly, vic v vic at the mcg would be a great watch ^^^^plus ^^^^it ^^^^would ^^^^answer ^^^^the ^^^^age ^^^^old ^^^^question ^^^^of ^^^^if ^^^^dairy ^^^^farmers ^^^^are ^^^^invincible

You could establish a div/tier system? E.g. Tier 1: Vic vs WA. Tier 2: SA vs Allies (though I don’t love it) or standalone QLD Next year, loser of Tier 1 drops down to Tier 2. Winner of Tier 2 promoted to Tier 1. So say Vic beat WA and SA beat QLD/Allies, next year tier 1 would be SA vs Vic, Tier 2 would be WA vs QLD/Allies Takes it from 1 game to 2, allows each of Vic, SA and WA to be represented, plus QLD or Allies. If successful, and the hype really builds up, could move to mid year and expand from one game per tier to multiple, but that can be a much longer term thing.

Give it to the state that doesn’t host gather round
K
Korasuka • 2 points
So if SA hosts SOO one year then GR goes somewhere else the same year.
L
LumpyCustard4 • 1 points
Yeah. Perth could easily host GR between the WACA, South Freo, Optus.
