The keyword “kent” is currently trending due to several significant news events that have attracted public attention. One key factor is the coverage surrounding the Reform UK’s Kent council, which is experiencing an “extreme risk” after passing its first budget. This situation raises concerns over local governance and financial management, prompting individuals in the region and beyond to search for more information regarding the implications and details of the budget’s approval.

In addition to local political developments, sports news is contributing to the search interest as the Texas Rangers organization designated player Zak Kent for assignment. This decision in the MLB is noteworthy for baseball fans and those following player movements in the league, leading to increased searches related to Zak Kent’s career and implications for the Texas Rangers.

Moreover, there is a personal aspect influencing search interest with the obituary for Larry “Kent” Coffey being published. This announcement resonates within communities that are connected to the individual or the broader area, fostering a search for tributes and information about his life. The combination of these events has led to a heightened volume of searches on the keyword “kent.”

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Gimme an evil Spider-Man. An annoying neighborhood menace who puts cats in trees, puts old ladies in the middle of the road, and actively ignores robberies. I want a sassy dork villain who doesn’t want to destroy the world and instead just wants to make everyone’s lives slightly more annoying through complete acts of pettiness. The total opposite of the small-town hero Peter Parker. Get creative.

If you ask JJJ that’s just a regular spider man
B
Brinabavd • 123 points
Marvel alternate timeline where JJJ is right would be a great one-shot.
S
Scairax • 82 points
Peter Parker is still a photographer for the bugel and has established job security through rage bait farming JJJ.
W
would-be_bog_body • 20 points
I mean that’s pretty much exactly what he already does anyway
S

Yeah, but now it would be, “Boss, Spider Man just stole every bicycle in queens. I got 10 front page photos for you to choose from.”

The title for the What-If? issue is already right there
B

“Spider-Man: Threat or Menace?”

I say let JJJ defend Spidey as a misunderstood hero when in reality he’s an asshole

Add into that the whole “Spider-Man is fucking TERRIFYING when he’s pissed”, and you’d have a genuinely compelling character. A guy that’s an irritating, but ultimately harmless bug-themed Z-list villain who snaps one time and just tears a guy apart like he’s made of tissue paper. What would drive an Evil Peter to that extreme? A superhero who made the wrong quip about “saying uncle”? A fellow villain who fancied a shot at his turf? Or worst of all, just a random passerby who he thought was in his way? Plus, Peter’s usually characterised as having many of his enemies respect him for being ultimately a good, empathetic dude, while many of his allies see him as an annoying goofball who refuses to take things seriously. Would Evil Peter keep that kind of dynamic, or would the alignments switch so his fellow villains like him for being an ultimately harmless, decent guy, while his heroic enemies fucking hate him for refusing to take them seriously? Deadass, I think this would be worth making into a whole story, I love this concept.

I mean yall are really just describing Venom at this point, at least back when he was a villain. He wasn’t trying to destroy the world or rob banks or anything. His only goal was to fuck with Spider-man’s life out of sheer pettiness.
E
EffectiveMirror7534 • 8 points
Venom isn’t bug-themed though. Aesthetically he looks like a brahmin caterpillar but he’s more like a slime mold

There was a run where Spider-man was separated from Peter. Basically Peter had all the responsibility but Spider-Man had all the power. Spidey did a bunch of stupid reckless crap while normie human Peter had to stop him.
I
IronBrew16 • 16 points
You could even have him have the same origin story, but have the result off! Instead of internalising responsibility, he internalises nihilism! “For all the power I had, I couldn’t do a damn thing to save Uncle Ben.”

Honestly kind of think a proper evil Spider-Man might be kind of terrifying. I mean just imagine a serial killer who can break into any home, climb past any defence or security undetected, abduct you without leaving the slightest bit of evidence and kills by trapping their victims in webs and causing them to suffocate to death (and heck, maybe even eats them like an actual spider), and you can’t even fight them cause they always get a warning if their ever in real danger.

Tayler Hebert from Worm fits that mold. She isn’t much of a jokester, but she fits the nebish teenage looser turned street-level powerhouse who still has interpersonal issues out the wazoo well, plus a bunch of other similarities with Peter.

And that’s why I still love those movies.

What if Spider-Man was the Punisher was a surprisingly fun read. It wasn’t just a one dimensional story about Spider-Man using guns and hunting down criminals. He still has a code of honour that he follows where he spares most people but often kills those he deemed threats being his rogue gallery. Eventually, he gives up because he realises uncle Ben did not die for this shit and Spider-Man no more becomes permanent in that universe.

Unfriendly neighborhood spiderman

Black Spider from DC and more specifically Young Justice is kind of this. A member of the League of Shadows that’s kind of just a petty henchman with annoying quips.
P
Puzzleheaded-Lab2447 • -2 points
Nah evil Spiderman would be Spiderman who had enough of putting up with the shit marvel throws at him. Or he’s a creepy weirdo who stalks, cheats on and abuses women, bullies people who criticises him and annoy the police.
L
LonelyPermit2306 • 142 points
Evil Batman is just someone like Lex Luthor or any one of those insecure billionaire supervillains. I guess the only difference is he would be punching down on the poors rather than punching up at superheroes
B
BellGloomy8679 • 62 points
They did an awesome job with Owlman in Crisis of Two Earths. He was very different from his comic counterpart and basically made the whole cartoon work – and was very different from Lex Luthor type.
A
Amazing-Buy-1181 • 35 points
Lex is just an evil billionaire. An Evil Batman should also be a Billonaire, yes, but you gotta maintain the trauma aspect of his character, which is not (in most cases) central to Luthor’s character, who is more focused on technology and Xenophobia.
L
LonelyPermit2306 • 5 points
The thing about Superman is his defining characteristic is being really strong and really good. Batman’s is being really tragic and really cool, I guess.
F
Flat_Box8734 • 15 points
I mean, you don’t have to. They just have to share some core traits that makes Batman feel like Batman. Otherwise Most “evil Supermans” don’t even follow Superman’s characterization correctly, in fact a lot of them just veer into just making superman a stereotypical tyrant like injustice or ironically just turn him into general zod like Omni man.
I
infinight888 • 6 points
“General Zod as Superman” was a pretty cool concept though. Surprised DC never did it themselves.

[Prometheus ](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Prometheus_(New_Earth)) and[Wraith ](https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Wrath_(Earth-One)) are what you’re looking for. Both literally have the same origin story of criminal parents being gunned in front of them. This traumatic episode caused both to dedicated their lives to seeking vengeance against authority enforcement.
B
bagman_ • 3 points
I’d like to see him actively justify his ideology with the idea that his parents were taken from him, therefore he can take from everyone else. Would be an interesting storyline

>Evil Batman I just got Mark Millar’s Nemesis flashbacks. Three words: incest womb bomb. I refuse to elaborate.
S
SuperZMann1 • 2 points
Would you believe he got worse in later comics?
T
ThatGuy264 • 38 points
I feel like a proper “Evil Batman” would a combination of Batgod/Batwank and a control freak: Contingency plans upon contingency plans, a desire to make sure that HIS city is functioning as he feels it should, maybe even a network of “family members” that act as minions for him. Injustice Superman and Justice Lords Superman were both “the road to Hell is paved with good intentions” types so that’s the angle I was thinking of.
A
Altered_Nova • 21 points
Evil Batman would absolutely be a “benevolent tyrant” whose peaceful crime-free city runs like clockwork because he’s built an oppressive surveillance state and everyone is terrified to do or say anything that might draw his attention. He would genuinely believe himself a hero because no child in his city ever has to worry about being orphaned by a mugger in a dark alleyway like he was.

As long as you respect Doom and its laws, Latveria isn’t actually all that bad of a place to live.

I’m imagining something like his usual vigilante justice schtick but instead of actual criminals he beats up anybody he thinks isn’t acting right. He should have an intense sense of paranoia where he sees a murderer lurking behind everyone who breaks the speed limit, after all he was just walking down the street minding his own business when some dude appeared out of nowhere and killed his parents. He probably still has his clan of Robins because you really can’t have Batman without Robin, but I imagine he keeps them in line via fear rather than love, and he genuinely thinks he’s doing the right thing because in his mind, the right thing for a future “hero” is to get into the right mindset, AKA *his* mindset, traumatized and hurting and scared and ready to lash out. He probably doesn’t actively like, beat them, but he emotionally abuses them and makes sure they’re too scared to do anything so bad to “earn” an actual beating by bringing them with him on his missions so they can see what happens to “lawbreakers” and teaching them to join in.

One of best evil batmans is [Castle Bat](https://villains.fandom.com/wiki/Castle_Bat) for that reason imo He’s so obsessed with protecting Gotham that he sacrifices Damian and uses the ritual to merge himself with the entire city. Becoming A living Gotham. Great one-shot story, sadly he’s a joke in the actual death metal event

Yeah we rarely see the elements of batman in an evil character. 1. Has to be competent and at least partially achieved goals. 2. Has to have resources in with money or technology. 3. Martially competent with no or very few superpowers. 4. Is insanely intelligent. Wait is this just Deathstroke if he was a smarty-pants? Teen titans version of Deathstroke is the best version of evil batman.
