The topic of “rock the country festival” is currently trending due to significant developments surrounding the event, particularly the withdrawal of key bands. Shinedown, a popular rock band, recently announced their decision to pull out of the festival after a controversial comment made by their drummer, who labeled rapper Ludacris a “coward.” This incident highlights the intersection of music and politics, drawing public attention to the festival’s lineup and overall direction.

Additionally, according to reports, the “Rock The Country” event in Anderson, South Carolina has been canceled following the withdrawal of several bands, which has been attributed to political factors. The festival was positioned as a MAGA-friendly event, creating further controversies and concerns among potential participants and attendees. The cancellation of such a high-profile event, coupled with the drama surrounding Shinedown’s exit, has likely spurred increased interest and searches related to the festival.

The combination of these developments has resulted in over 50,000 searches, as fans and the general public seek more information about the festival’s future, the motivations behind the cancellations, and the implications of the recent conflicts. The situation encapsulates a larger cultural moment, marked by tensions between differing musical genres and political affiliations, prompting heightened curiosity and engagement with the topic.

I don’t follow the band that close, whats wrong with that destival?
R
RRJC10 • 35 points
It’s basically a spin-off of the alternate Super Bowl show. It’s not officially MAGA endorsed, but it’s as close as it can be.

That’s a completely different thing. Rock The Country isn’t until May

It was born from the same ideas.

The idea of celebrating American spirit? How tragic
R

We all know what American spirit is code for. Just own it.

sorry don’t get mad just want to ask a reasonable question not asking for insults. What is american spirit code for?
R
RRJC10 • 13 points
Nothing wrong with asking questions! It’s code for a white America. It’s code for an America with no gay people. It’s code for an America with no trans people.
A
AssociationWaste1336 • -10 points
You made all that up based off of your own biases but go off
R
RRJC10 • 10 points
So you support gay marriage? You’re comfortable using the pronouns someone asks you to use? You’re supportive of transgender people? You think the current ICE policies are a bad way to deal with illegal immigration? Or are those things not in the American spirit?
B
barbthebuilderr • 1 points
“Based off your own biases”🙄 Why the hell else do you think the Super Bowl alternate show is even a thing?? Why is a Puerto Rican artist not in the “American Spirit”?

Headlined by Kid Rock. That says everything.
A
AssociationWaste1336 • 0 points
I like a few of his songs but I don’t think he’s ever been a big enough name to headline. He’s a mid liner at best.
J
Justsquidd • 2 points
I used to like some songs of his, until he became the “big name” star of maga, which is crazy cause he wasn’t really all that popular til now. And that rediscovered song of his about the underage girls… his rep is never recovering imo

No_Home8287 • -13 points
Annnnnnd……? Ur butthurt by someone else having a different festival?
R
RRJC10 • 13 points
It’s not a different festival. It’s a counter festival. I don’t expect someone who uses “ur” and “butthurt” to be able to grasp that though.
B

It’s ran by a pedo that supports pedos

Basically, it’s a MAGA jizzfest.

In this case I’m happy they declined

The only reason they canceled is bc liberals were bombarding their socials bullying the fuck out of them. Go listen to planet zero they are most def conservatives.
N

I mean… liberals have thier they/them pretend to be a girl when ur really a male festival.
R
RRJC10 • 15 points
And there it is. But it’s the “intolerable left” right? We are beyond Left/Right petty politics. It’s down to just decent human decency. I don’t care if someone supported Mitt Romney, John McCain, or even George W. Bush. I didn’t agree with them politically but I could respect where they were coming from for the most part. They were trying to do what they believed what right. Or at least pretended to. We have shifted from respectful difference of opinions to mass hate and the denial of facts and human decency. And yes, one side is much worse than the other. Your post is proof of that.

You also just named 3 staunch Republicans who oppose this administration. Shoot, Dick Cheney voted for Harris before he died. It’s not even right vs left anymore. It’s human vs inhuman. Glad the band finally did the right thing.

Oh you poor thing. The gays aren’t repressed enough to stay relegated to the closet anymore. It must be so hard being you, having to see all of those people love who they love and not be ashamed. They don’t even have the common courtesy to hide it so it doesn’t harm your conservative snowflake sensibilities. How do you manage to act superior when you’re triggered by other people having the gall to *exist publicly*?

I

I mean, you seem to care, since you are replying to everyone lol
N
No_Home8287 • 1 points
Only replying bc people replied to me. I said what I said from the start and u people cried and huffed and puffed about what I said. Every single time I replied back… I did it all with a smile on my face bc this shit is way too easy and fun. So, realistically, anyone who replied back to me that didn’t like what I said made my day even better. I mean, I was having a good day from the get go, but watching people get mad at me made it even better

Glad they’re listening to their fans. That’s a sign that a band really cares.

I wish they’d had the moral fortitude to do this before they were worried about their cash flow though. Playing at a festival where many of their fans, would not be welcome and may not be safe attending, was a choice. For a band who wrote and performed songs about the misfits, the kids who are bullied and don’t fit in, the ‘outcasts’, it was a very poor choice to agree to perform at this concert.
J
JerseyDad_856 • 15 points
Not sure why you are being downvoted. Agree, their music and the festival environment did not jive.
S
Spear994 • 9 points
Because that reply is a bit vindictive and could be taken as suggesting that the band only cares about future cash flow. It’s a real possibility that they got approached with a date and a dollar amount, and they accepted because it was available to them without knowing any of the rest of the lineup or political undertones of the show. Then that stuff comes out. The band sees their fans reaction to what could have been new information to them as well, and went “this show is WAY too divisive…. we’re out”. Maybe I’m being too optimistic there but I’m trying to believe that not EVERYONE is a cartoon villain.
E
EyCeeDedPpl • 11 points
Maybe that’s how it started. But when confronted by the fans weeks and weeks ago, their original statement said they were excited to play the venue, and are a-political, and they play for “everyone”. They did not acknowledge the harm people were pointing out, did not acknowledge that many of their fan base were not going to be able to attend due to safety concerns, they basically said suck it up, we want to play this gig- even though we know it’s harmful. PS Barry also issued a statement calling Ludicris a coward for pulling out of the festival due to it being MAGA fest. Here is his statement “I don’t care. I’m just gonna go play a show. I really, really don’t care. You can keep your politics to yourself. I have no opinion one way or the other on Kid Rock. I love his music. This is about music. Ludacris wasn’t tough… I mean, it’s not like he needs the money, Jeez. If he’s not tough enough to stick it out, that’s just silly. That’s him being a coward, in my opinion.” [LINK](https://blabbermouth.net/news/shinedown-pulls-out-of-kid-rocks-rock-the-country-festival-after-barry-kerch-called-ludacris-a-coward-for-doing-the-same#google_vignette)

And those are all really good points. I’m sorry if it seemed like I was just making you out to be this vintictive fan. Ive just dealt with enough musical artists who had no clue about the actual event they were playing at. Just knew there was a stage and a time and the check cleared. I’ve been hoping that might have been the case here. To be honest, I’ve only been loosely following this whole thing.

Maybe you have now figured out who is an unreliable narrator?
S
sortagraceful • 4 points
That would track if they considered the ramifications once they were made aware of the MAGA-ness of the event. Instead this followed from the drummer: “This is about music. Ludacris wasn’t tough… I mean, it’s not like he needs the money, Jeez. If he’s not tough enough to stick it out, that’s just silly. That’s him being a coward, in my opinion.” And more statements about “all about the music”. Considering the ongoing death threats, kidnapping and violence by ICE, it’s not a time to pull this shit.

I completely understand why you feel that way. This is such a complicated situation for artists to navigate nowadays because at any given time they risk offending 50% of their fans when all most of them want to do is play music. There are so many nuances here. First of all Barry doesn’t automatically represent the whole bands view’s and he even stated that. Also the podcast was recorded before Minneapolis and those events made a lot of people see things differently. Brent’a mom passed and people thinking that isn’t a factor that should matter is kind of odd to me. The Band always says you’re allowed to have as many human moments as you need. Barry might regret what he said, others in the band may not have agreed, their views might have changed with Minneapolis or the Turning Point event. At the end of the day shouldn’t we try to assume the best not the worst of people constantly as it relates to politics? No matter what anyone says one show or one comment doesn’t erase 20 plus years of them consistently preaching unity and inclusivity. Not everyone’s audience that is on that show is the same. Some might be cheering a band doing it and others had fans that were totally against it. I think for a band like Shinedown it divided their audience in a way that was so extraordinarily different than normal that they decided to remove themselves and stay true to their message. People are going to judge them one way or another but don’t actually know them. I think they made an almost impossible decision about what they felt was right for them and their fans and just tried to have the courage to do what was right to them. It’s takes courage to stay on with the heat and it takes courage to remove yourself and get heat. No celebrity should be judged either way for doing what’s right or for at any time changing their mind about something as they learn more. I just wish everyone commenting negatively from both sides took a minute to ask themselves how it would feel to be attacked by masses of strangers if in your heart you’re just trying to do your best. Let’s show a little grace to people we don’t agree with but who are not intentionally or actively trying to agitate or divide with their personal opinions.
S
sigirl143 • 3 points
You are 100% correct about this assumption. People slammed them saying they only wanted a check by doing this. Then slam them that it’s about a check for pulling out when they give up the paid date. Too many artists are now in a no win situation when all they want to do is play music and grow their audience. They are being faced with impossible decisions. It’s very easy for everyone to sit at home and judge them but if you have been a long time fan, you know they are great humans who say at EVERY show that everyone is welcome and who raise money for various charities and causes and try to put out love in the world. They are staying constant to their message by doing this. Everyone needs to stop forgetting these are real humans. Where does the bullying stop. Everyone on both sides are claiming they are the better person but frankly attacking strangers you don’t know or without knowing the facts of the circumstances that fuel their decisions, all while they are mourning the death of their mother makes no one a better person.

Who cares why they did it so long as they did?
E
EyCeeDedPpl • 2 points
Because they called another artist a coward for pulling out of the festival, last month.
M
MistakeElite • 2 points
High chance they agreed to do the show a year or more ago though, who knew how things were going to play out then.
E
EyCeeDedPpl • 2 points
Even so, when they found out- their initial statement was bashing Ludicris and calling him a coward. Saying they would never pull out of a gig. How they were going to play the festival no matter what. Then more backlash, and all of a sudden they are doing what Ludicris did, only too late.
Z
Zealousideal-Big6872 • 3 points
There’s a reason everyone is pulling out. They obviously didn’t know that political overtones if the festival.
