I hope the Buffalo media absolutely lays into Beane at the presser for this
C

This whole situation feels lazy to me.
D
Delehantys_Barrell • 1 points
And cheap. And a huge course correction from McDermott in charge to Terry and Beane power tripping.
B
bucobill • 1 points
So the Bills feel the team can be run better by the QB. This has worked in the past with the Broncos. However is this coach strong enough to be a leader or is he just a proxy for Allen? Time will tell, but I would not bet on the Bills being in the playoffs.

Benja742 • 7 points
if you ever want to predict what the bills are going to do just think of the worst thing a football team could do and theres a 95% they’ll do it

I’m new here and not a Bills fan. But I don’t get this. Do fans like it or no.
S
Seravie • 1 points
Nope, Joe Brady is part of the status quo which was the reason why McDermott was fired.
J
jackglimpse_ • 1 points
So I’m confused. Basically if Brady doesn’t make the SB then what? Is it still Sean’s fault? Are they just gonna be like ahhh we’ll give him another year. Or are they just gonna fire him? This hire contradicts the press conference and I’m just so confused 😕
L
laslo_piniflex • 2 points
Pegula got overly emotional after the Broncos loss and made a snap decision. Everything since then has been post hoc ass covering in search of a larger plan.
J
jackglimpse_ • 1 points
My only grasp of hope is that it’s a one year rental, and they getting someone next year.
L
laslo_piniflex • 1 points
5 year contract. This is his team for at least a few because there ain’t no way penny pincher Pegula wants to pay two coaches
M
monkeysCAN • 1 points
Where are you getting that Pegula has been a cheap owner? The Bills are top 3 in cash spending since 2020.

When I go back and watch our highlights from the year, everything on our offense just looks… hard. Like really. Go watch a 49ers game where Brock Purdy is casually lofting the ball 10 yards down field to wide open receivers on almost every play… then watch us. I’m not convinced our offensive success has much to do with Brady – we’ve had a powerful offense across multiple OCs now. I hope I’m wrong man.
W
Wide_Cheesecake4694 • 1 points
I agree we just look so unorganized
P
Prior_Advantage_5408 • 1 points
This has been my issue with the Bills offense for the past 4 years, across multiple OCs.
B
broberts77 • 3 points
Based on the last 2 promotions it’s obvious now that Pegula felt like McDermott was the entire problem and he was holding Brady and Beane back. Whether or not that’s true we will find out…
S
SCTIGERS • -1 points
They shouldn’t have fired McDermott, but this is the best thing they could have done if they did in my opinion. Whatever Joe Brady has been doing has worked for the most part. But it makes firing McDermott make even less sense if they were looking for change.
R
Renegade_451 • 6 points
They should have fired McDermott 4 years ago.
S
SilentSasquatch2 • 2 points
Yup even if someone is uninspired by this hire (like me), a change should have happened years ago

Really excited for this. Under Brady, Josh won an MVP and was an MVP Finalist. Under Brady, Cook was the rushing leader. Brady’s tenure is marked by top league ranks in a lot of offensive metrics. Heard he was bringing Jim Leonhard from Denver to be his DC too. Which is a big improvement from stale, prevent defense McDermott loved to live in. A lot more aggression on defense will help force mistakes.
D
DemonBearOP • 7 points
What Brady did was transfer passing production to rushing production. Allen threw for 100-200 less passes every year under Brady than from 2020-2023. MVP voters care the most about reducing turnovers, which Josh did by reducing overall attempts. The offense wasn’t actually significantly more efficient. Joe Brady is the most conservative playcaller in the entire league, most runs and most throws short of the sticks. The only possible way it’s not a disappointment is if McDermott was the primary culprit for the offense’s conservative nature and stalling in the clutch.

We can’t know for sure if this was Brady’s choice offense, or if it was what McDermott allowed him to run. We do know McDermott heavily valued time of possession, long drive offenses. There were articles that came out he was upset that the offense would “score too quickly” sometimes, which ultimately he felt put more pressure on his defense. If he could make every drive last longer, allowing his defense to be rested more, he’d take it. I think you can point to that, and how he really wanted to reign in Allen’s gunslinging tendencies, and say perhaps Brady was running what McDermott wanted him to run. It’s all speculation and depending on your bias you could lean either way. Fwiw, I thought Brady called great games in Jacksonville and in Denver. The games that mattered the most. Defense giving up 33, and the offense making many mistakes is what cost us that game. It wasn’t because the offense wasn’t working. 30 points with 4-5 turnovers is insane production, imo. Not telling anyone how to feel. I understand the trepidation and negativity by some. I just personally feel great about it.
D
DemonBearOP • 1 points
We can’t, but there’s not a great indication that it wasn’t Brady’s scheme. And if it got Joe Brady promoted, why would he change the scheme?
D
degeso • 1 points
Because we know what Brady has done in LSU, his offense looked very different there. Obviously you have to marry personnel and scheme, and they had much more talented WR groups then. It was also years ago, and in college. I just wouldn’t be surprised if Brady were to add wrinkles he didn’t feel capable of adding under McDermott for reasons already stated. McDermott was very hands on in both personnel acquisitions (ensuring culture guys got spots) and in all phases of the game (he overruled the squib kick call in :13 seconds). It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Brady’s offense was his, but tailored to McDermott’s proclivities. McDermott has matched that MO his entire career. Brady hasn’t. That would be my reasoning for assuming it’d look different without McDermott.

IMHO, this is all on Terry Pegula. I’m not saying McD didn’t deserve to get the axe, but it is worth pointing out that in the nine years he was here he instilled some much-needed organizational order, professionalism and discipline. And remember, he was hired *before* Beane. Now, Terry decides he wants to make a change. That’s fine. It’s his prerogative. But if he was serious about it, he would’ve cleaned house. Instead, he’s chosen a half-assed path and turned over the keys to Beane who has now chosen a yes-man coach who, it can be argued, hampered our star quarterback with lacklustre game plans and play calls. My worry is that Terry essentially lucked into McD, who turned out to be the perfect guy to get us to this stage. But Terry has now completely floundered in charting a course for the next phase of the team’s evolution. I’m not a Sabres fan, however, I fear the Bills are now morphing into them. And what happened to them all these years is squarely on Terry’s ineptitude.

I’ll root no matter what to be wrong, I’ll look at our picks and be hopeful, I’ll go through a free agency that’ll feel like a letdown and be hopeful, I’ll set down with my Bills gear come week 1. That being said this feels like a hard time that only plunges us further into live or die off of Josh Allen territory.

I am a Carolina Panthers fan but have friends who are Bills fans. I am shocked by what the Bills have done since their season ended. Promoted a GM and fired a great HC in the heat of the moment. I remember reading how the owner said he walked through the locker room and saw people upset and crying which made him decide a change was needed. No fucking shit people are going to be upset after losing that game. I remember the Chargers were really good but they couldn’t make it to the big game and the owner fired the HC in order to be able to get to the big game. How did that work out for them?! I see the same shit happening now with this team. I hope I am wrong because I think Allen deserves a ring but I thing this owner fucked him, this team and the fans over.

Can they at the very least get someone else to be DC? Running it back with the same exact people is insane

It is bubble screen time

I wonder if this is a “prove it” hire because the Bills know, in a year, they could get Mike Tomlin. This feels like a “good enough” option and frankly I’m tired of “good enough”.
D
DemonBearOP • 1 points
When has this owner done that? If they get to 6 wins that would be enough to avoid a firing
M
marchant26 • 1 points
I know what you’re saying, but it’s a 5 year deal. He’d have to be 4-13 disaster for that to happen. I just don’t see it.
F
Forsaken_Bill_3502 • 2 points
Yeah I think the 5 year deal tells you they view Brady as the real deal. It’s kind of a tell IMO that they always just wanted to bump him up and get rid of McD.

Maybe not so much the offensive coordinator but definitely the defensive

True

Nobody is going to know if this was the right or wrong decision until next season is well on its way. You can’t do anything about it, so just root for the team to be successful with their new HC.
B

As much as I hate your comment, you right!
D

Concern is perfectly valid given the facts we do know.
M

I never said you couldn’t be concerned, there is just nothing you can do about it now.

The whole coaching search saga reminds me of when Dick Cheney lead the group trying to figure out who should be George W’s VP and after the process appointed himself
