Happens a lot when people fly in bad weather with no IFR rating/equipment. I live by a small airport and every crash we’ve had since I’ve lived out here seems to be from trying to land when the marine layer is dense and there’s low lying fog

It’s wild to me that private pilots can do VFR flights at night with little training. There is no way I would ever dream of flying at night unless I had a IFR rating.
