The [status.cloud.microsoft](https://status.cloud.microsoft/) site is also returning an HTTP 429 for me. You’d think Microsoft of all people would realize the value of having a status page that’s hosted totally independently of the services it’s reporting on, so…ya know, you can get status info in an outage.

I’m seeing bounced messages in Proofpoint Essentials. There’s a DNS lookup failure downstream from Proofpoint, so they are sending NDRs to senders. Essentially, Proofpoint tries to route the messages to Microsoft, but Microsoft can’t find the tenant and tells Proofpoint there’s no one at that destination.

I kept telling everyone the cloud wasn’t some magical place where systems never went down. It’s still a computer. Only now we don’t have physical access to the hardware and only get a software layer to access everything if the vendor is functional.

While I agree, I also offer up the point that they do a MUCH better job of keeping Exchange and SharePoint online than I could do with Small Business Servers (all single points of failure in their own rights somewhere along the lines) floating around in the wild for ~100 odd tenants we have in M365.
