The keyword “stranger things documentary” has seen a significant surge in search interest, with over 10,000 searches, primarily due to Netflix’s recent release of a documentary focusing on the making of “Stranger Things 5.” This documentary has sparked curiosity among fans, many of whom are eager to gain insight into the production process of the beloved series, particularly as it nears its conclusion.

Additionally, reports suggest that the documentary addresses and provides clarification on theories surrounding the show, such as the ‘Conformity Gate’ theory. This aspect has caught the attention of viewers who are interested in deeper analyses of the show’s narrative and creative decisions, prompting them to search for more information.

Various media outlets have confirmed the documentary’s release and provided details, including a trailer titled “One Last Adventure.” This promotional content has likely contributed to the heightened interest as fans look to catch a glimpse of what the documentary entails and when it will be available for viewing.

Demo fatigue is wild. Imagine George Lucas worrying about stormtrooper fatigue lol.
S

Yeah, I mean at least write in a reason why they’re not there 😭 the upside down was just like a chill dreary hangout place by the end
P
passiveghoul • 418 points
I honestly assumed the mind flayer absorbed them and I’m not the only one. If they didn’t want to write and shoot it they could’ve at least stated something like that. Anything! they’re a huge symbol and plot point of the show. Nothing screams stranger things more than a demo.
S
ScruteScootinBoogie • 192 points
See that is such a simple and easy way to explain it, but they couldn’t even come up with that on their own, even after they wrote the meat flayer…. Just again shows how little thought they put in their final season.
O
Osmodius • 56 points
A 30s scene of vecna tearing apart a bunch of demo’s to make his house and voila you have an explanation of why there’s none around.
E
egosumFidius • 83 points
While they’re in the abyss, the group is surprised at the lack of vines and monsters. They could’ve just thrown in a line while they’re planning their attack like, “I guess that’s where all the vines and monsters went,” and i think I would’ve been fine. The last season of legend of korra had a similar issue. There’s an episode where the Earth Empire has been dismantling the platinum domes of the Metal Clan for some reason. Later the metal colossus shows up but no one makes the connection that the platinum from the domes was used to make it.
P
PurpleV93 • 32 points
In LoK, the characters don’t talk about it, but at least the viewers know and it’s obvious that Mike and Bryan knew what they were doing with the domes. But with Stranger Things they left everybody in the dark, because the Duffers didn’t care to explain anything.

icedog158 • 9 points
I feel like it SHOULD have been a very fair comparison but since the Duffers only set up… oh I don’t know A. A Meat Flayer created of humans and other organics from our world during Season 3, B. In the Child Henry Cave Memory we see that the Mind Flayer was always in its cloud form, and C. The lack of creatures and organic life coupled with the now existing Organic Castle/Body of the Mind Flayer that was not in the Memory Rock vision nor was it in the Season 4 flashback when Henry found it and Demos were still present in The Abyss Makes it a slam dunk of an explanation but then they go into interviews and say “Oh idk they weren’t ready” like wth man. I feel like some occasional shots of the Demos bringing back the captured children to The Abyss and then have them exploding into meat for the Flayer again would have been a great callback
E
esepleor • 16 points
Haven’t watched the documentary but on that front, given how many fans apparently had that same thought, it’s kinda wild that they didn’t come up with it too. It would work well with the theme they wanted of this seasoning mirroring previous seasons.
G
GammaFan • 8 points
It also works great as a power of community. The gang works as a *group of individuals* whereas vecna took a massive numbers advantage and collapses it into one massive unit that’s way easier for them to deal with. One goliath vs several davids is a classic for a reason.

Im_A_Real_Boy1 • 18 points
There are a few places (fat kid gets winded in a place where oxygen doesn’t exist) where it is very obvious that viewers put more thought into particular points than the writing team
E
echoshatter • 226 points
The biggest problem with the demos is how inconsistent they are with how invulnerable they are. They didn’t make any sense with the power scaling back and forth. Sure, Eleven can make short work of them, we can all buy that because she’s “magic.” But then you’ve got guys dumping magazines of bullets into them and they shrug it off, but some teenagers with spears and baseball bats are sufficient to fight any of those otherwise magical creatures? A guy with a sword can cut them to pieces, but the bullets don’t tear their flesh apart? At no point did I feel like I knew if the enemies were going to be tough or not. It’s like they didn’t know how bullets work. These are BBs.
I
Iokua113 • 95 points
I think they don’t actually know how bullets work. There’s this pervasive belief that bullets are just blunt force trauma when in reality bullets are designed to pierce. The logic seems to be that fully grown demogorgons are largely immune to blunt force but have no resistance to anything that cuts or pierces. That’s why the wine bottle work, it’s why the nail bat works, it’s why Hopper could decapitate one. They also seem to instantly regenerate from any non-fatal damage. It is inconsistent and very poor power scaling but there is at least some extremely thin logic behind it. The problem I have with it is that in all their years of knowing that Upside Down exists the military never develops a weapon that specifically targets demos. To me that’s the actual problem.
F
fangsonwangs • 48 points
wait, you’re so right, they developed a sound just to subdue the 2ish magical kids and they had nothing for the main creatures theyre most likely to encounter in the area they built a base at.
R
RareMajority • 95 points
The worst part is the fucking wine bottle. They shrug off bullets from high-powered rifles, but are vulnerable to broken glass?
S
Scrimge122 • 58 points
Not just high powered rifles, they shrugged off bullets from a 50 cal on the Humvee when they attacked the base.
A
A_Nonny_Muse • 8 points
When one is hit by a .223, one goes, “oh, there’s a hole in me”. When one is hit by a 50 cal., body parts fall off or fly away. In the series, both seem to do the same thing.
E
Emergency_Lobster667 • 10 points
Exactly. I don’t care if they’re resistant to normal gunfire. A 50 cal. should have simply tore their bodies apart, far easier than Hopper’s fucking sword did in season 4.

That must have been one really hot wine bottle, then

When you’re inconsistent with lore that you create yourself. It doesn’t feel like a professional production anymore.
W
wixie1016 • 5 points
So why didn’t they work then?
2
2leftf33t • 31 points
Great question, also the army had 4 years to study these things, and 70 years of experience in incendiary weapons… Ask me again why every soldier wasn’t equipped with the hottest of weapons available?
T
The_Pandemonium • 169 points
I feel like a really good idea is once the mind flayer reveals itself and they’re fighting it, a army of demos comes from the hills or some shit and right when they think they’re gonna get massacred will takes control of all of them and they attack the mind flayer while the teens also fight it. I don’t think I’ve ever articulated something so bad before but it’s early.
D
DoubleStrength • 47 points
>right when they think they’re gonna get massacred will takes control of all of them and they attack the mind flayer I like this more than the “the army follows the gang to the abyss and they’re the foot soldiers fighting the demos while the gang fights the MF” idea. Which wasn’t bad, but at least this one better pays off Will spending the whole season learning how to hack the hivemind.
S
subywesmitch • 21 points
Yeah, I thought Will was going to use his powers more in the finale. But, the whole slowly discovering his powers and coming out to prevent Vecna from controlling him didn’t amount to too much in the end
A
A_Nonny_Muse • 7 points
To be honest, Will learning to hack the hive mind was one of the more awesome parts of the show.
B
babealot • 11 points
That wasn’t bad at all. I would have loved to see a scene like this!
P
passionfruit2378 • 6 points
I literally thought this was going to happen once Will learned how to tap into the hive mind. I was saying to myself that Will is going to seize control of the demos and use them to attack Vecna!!! I can’t believe his only use was…holding Vecna back….what bullshit.
N
nancyneurotic • 87 points
I think it’s more that the Duffers were fatigued. Ready to just get it done.
N
nugsnwubz • 52 points
I hate this so much though 😭 Not just because it led to an unsatisfying ending but also because plenty of talented creative people DREAM of being in the Duffers’ position and will never get close to a studio let alone their work being seen by millions, but the brothers can just half ass an ending because they’re tired.
M
MithrandiriAndalos • 26 points
That’s what’s unforgivable. I understand that they started the show without a clear ending in mind, but once they decided they are ending the show, they had soooo much time to put into an outline. And they just didn’t.
W
Worried_Raspberry313 • 136 points
It’s fun how in interviews they were like “Vecna wasn’t expecting to be attacked” instead of going “we thought using demos again would make people tired. We see now it was a bad decision and we’re sorry for it”. People is surprisingly willing to forgive stuff if you’re just honest and say sorry.
D
Darktyde • 45 points
Some real “Dany just sort of forgot about the iron fleet” energy haha
P
PurpleV93 • 18 points
That quote drives me up a tree, lol. Why say this silly nonsense about Vecna then, if the reason was something else? The guy who is fighting against these people for years, had his plans ruined multiple times and even almost died in season 4, >and< who said that Will will be "his spy, one more time".. somehow doesn't anticipate that the same group won't try to stop him again? Do the Duffers really think claiming that Henry/ Vecna being the biggest moron in the series is somehow a better answer than saying they feared people would get tired seeing the series-defining monster in one more episode?
H
hike_me • 69 points
I think demo fatigue is real, but that ship sailed long ago and now it’s just weird they disappeared It was creepier in season 1 when it was a lone predator and not a puppet
F
FullConsideration861 • 84 points
It would have made more sense if they didn’t use demos so heavily in the first half of the season only to have them all just disappear.
H
hike_me • 57 points
Yeah, literally everyone was like “WTF” when they just disappeared. I think it’s one of the biggest creative mistakes with the final episode
J
JayKay8787 • 36 points
The funny part is those demo scenes were some of the only good parts of the season, definitely the only good action…
D
Dizzy_Chemistry_5955 • 9 points
and even that one big scene was just an exact copy of the Jurassic Park raptors scene even down to the reflection part
D
DustedGrooveMark • 19 points
I don’t even really buy that either. “People are tired of it” isn’t really a good excuse for them to break continuity. They could have come up with a legitimate excuse for the demogorgons to be absent. Maybe Vecna/The Mind Flayer absorbed them for more power. Maybe when the demogorgons aren’t actively being used by the hive mind, they’re just off doing their own thing. SOMETHING to logically explain their absence if you just want them out of the picture. Instead, I think it was 1) they didn’t want to waste any of the CGI budget on them during the final battle with the millions of other CGI elements, and 2) they would be too hard to write around. All eight of the gang standing on the cliff launching fire at The Mind Flayer isn’t so easy if they’re all being attacked by demogorgons and bats. It would have been almost inevitable that multiple people get killed if there is a hoard of enemies rushing them alongside Vecna and a monster spider. And of course they weren’t willing to do that, so instead of writing around it, they just wrote them out.
R
Remmock • 8 points
It would have been worthwhile to see the demos continuously gathering where Vecna was with the Mind Flayer floating above it, but never see tons of demos there. Just more and more gathering up. Then, when the party shows up it’s eerily empty. As they get within visual distance suddenly the Mind Flayer particles dive into the ground. THEN we get the physical Mind Flayer coming out of the ground. Then when Dusty gets close, he sees a few partially fused heads/hands and realizes that Mind Flayer is reconstructed biomass in a callout to S3.
S
SarkastiCat • 22 points
There was a fatigue of demo-like monster in season 3 and they had opportunity to move away from them right after season 2 finale. But they went with them and established them as a threat in Upside-Down. They missed the window for logical removal and went for illogical one.
D
Dizzy_Chemistry_5955 • 8 points
they’re stealing from DnD anyway, just steal more. There’s literally an entire book of monsters they could use.
