Yeah, Hollywood bigwigs caught on people that werent necessarily in the circles they are in were making money off podcasts (while few do, there’sa surprising chunk that have made a decent living), so they had to commercialize it even more. You can guarantee it will only big known names that win it every year, and it will be treated very much like a joke.

The lack of a nomination for Maron in his last year, or any of the other podcasts that have been around for over a decade and *made the market* long before the pandemic when the rest of Hollywood took notice, speaks to how terrible the process is (if there even is one). Amy Poehler is great but even a cursory understanding of the field shows there’s no good reason why her podcast should have won. It’s barely a year old, and there’s nothing to it that sets it apart other than who the host is. And shit, if your criteria is just “well known celebrity interviews celebrities”, Conan should get a nomination at bare minimum. But really, “Best Podcast” is completely meaningless anyway. It’s way too wide a field, with way too many genres that aren’t comparable.

I guess there is some resistance to awarding him due to him winning for past roles and his personality. I am happy for Skasgard though. I will count it as a win for his Andor performance as well
