Grateful that we won, but there was a period I thought we could be going to extra time. Slot has the team playing some of the most boring football I’ve seen in awhile. What really made it stand out to me (at least recently) was seeing Leeds play, with their assertive, quick passing and aggressive attacking football. Daniel Farke has a team with far less quality playing beautiful football. Liverpool should be playing a similar aggressive, attacking football. Slot seems to be trying to mimic the PSG blueprint and failing. The reason why we’re in fourth place is that despite Slot’s football, our players keep showing individual brilliance. Our players are saving Slot. This slow pedestrian football with hundreds of lateral and back passes, with acres of space in midfield, is going to cause Liverpool to miss out on champions league football next season. I can see it a mile away. Now that Alonso is free from Madrid, I can’t help but hope that Slot gets sacked and Liverpool bring in Alonso. Alonso’s preferred style of play would bring back the Liverpool of old. This death by a thousand slow passes is not it.

Honestly it’s laughable how much McCoist bent over and slobbered over the Barnsley forwards. Give it a rest. They put in a few nice crosses but that’s about it. They got hammered 4-1 and only scored the one because we gave them that goal. We got the job done in the end and thats all that matters, we made it far harder than it needed to be and that is largely due to slotball. Individual class shone through at the end. Biased ass commentary made the game feel shit. “Its 4-1, but that doesn’t paint the whole picture!” just shut up at that point. Barnsley defended well but still conceded 4 to an imperfect LFC performance. Love the little bit of class with the shirt swaps at the end.
