The keyword “TSA PreCheck” is currently trending due to recent developments involving the program’s potential suspension. Two significant news reports highlighted the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) decision to reverse a previous plan to close TSA PreCheck, leading to heightened public interest. The uncertainty around the program attracted attention and prompted individuals to seek information on the current status of TSA PreCheck.

The DHS’s announcement of reversing course on the suspension of TSA PreCheck was met with notable media coverage, as seen in articles from WCNC and The Washington Post. This widespread reporting contributed to an increased search interest as people sought clarity on the program, especially in relation to its accessibility and operational status at airports.

The topic gained traction as travelers and potential applicants wanted to stay informed about the program’s availability, particularly given the implications for airport security lines and expedited screening processes. The combination of uncertainty surrounding its future and the subsequent reversal of suspension ignited a surge in searches for TSA PreCheck.

With over 100,000 searches reported, there is a clear correlation between the recent news signals and the increased interest in TSA PreCheck, as individuals likely sought to understand how this development would affect their travel plans and whether they should apply for the program.

I’m sure the lawsuit briefs started rolling in immediately. The people using PreCheck and Global Entry are generally business travelers that are backed by people and entities that have a pretty loud voice.
P
Politicsboringagain • 1,156 points
Yep, rich people who can afford business class and first class love pre check and Global entry. It pretty much guarantees that they don’t have to be at any airport more than a hour before their flight.
H

Pre check and global entry are surprisingly good value considering you get access for 5 years Waiting for the rug pull but until then $120 for both services for 5 years isn’t shabby at all

Pre-check is worth every penny

Agreed. I got it because I hated taking off my shoes and belt and then waddle off like an asshole trying to get everything back on. Stupid AF to even have to do that normally.
D
DoctorFunktopus • 92 points
I just flew last week. Apparently they’re not doing the shoes thing anymore. But I feel like they change the amount of security theater they want to do every time (and then treat you like an asshole for not knowing).

HatesBeingThatGuy • 50 points
“Why didn’t you remove your laptop from your bag? Your bag has to go back through, follow the damn instructions.” Bro I literally went through this checkpoint a week ago and was told “do not remove your laptop from your bags” and you didn’t say jack shit.

IchooseYourName • 10 points
Yes, I’ve found some airports ask you to pull it out while some others don’t. It’s annoying because all I want is to avoid getting yelled at by TSA.
D
djheat • 39 points
The shoes thing was actually a policy change last year. But yeah it is generally just a roll of the dice which rules they feel like enforcing or yelling at you for following depending on the day
T
tarekd19 • 16 points
I’ve been yelled both for taking my shoes off and not taking them off at the same airport
C
Cr4yol4 • 40 points
I actually had to take my belt off the other day. Flew out of one airport with no problems, but coming back my belt actually set off the metal detector.
C
Crazy-Inspection-778 • 41 points
I just drop my pants to my ankles every time. It causes a bit of a scene but if enough people catch on we can force their hand
C
Ciccio178 • 22 points
I was asked if i wanted to step aside behind a curtain to be patted down. I told them if i was gonna get fondled, it’d be right there in front of witnesses.
A
Amy_Bony_Carrott • 28 points
And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day, I said fifty people a day walking in and taking off their pants? And friends they may thinks it’s a movement.

I use an Arcade Belt specifically for flying to avoid this. If I need to be presentable later, I’ll pack a real belt.
S
steppe5 • 38 points
Paying $120 for the right to keep your shoes on is hella dystopian.
A
AlcibiadesTheCat • 28 points
Because if you have $120, then you’re a Trusted Traveler!!! Never mind the obvious security loophole of “anyone who has Pre-Check can now smuggle explosive liquids through the metal detector.”
M
Morfolk • 30 points
It is such a blatant display that those ‘security measures’ are not needed and only exist as a way to sell the Pre-check.
B
bishop375 • 11 points
Paying $120 to have shorter lines, not have to deal with people at customs, and go about my day quicker? Worth it. If 9/11 never happened, and this was an “express lane at every airport,” fee? Glad to pay it.
H
HowManyEggs2Many • 8 points
I fly a lot without pre-check and have not been asked to take off my shoes or belt in years…the only thing I see are pissed off TSA agents telling people they don’t need to do that.
Z
Zebidee • 25 points
>the only thing I see are pissed off TSA agents telling people they don’t need to do that. As a primarily international traveller, the problem is that each airport has its own rules. You might go through five checkpoints in a day all wanting something different.
O
Otherwise_Demand4620 • 10 points
Then you have one TSA agent who always lies and one that always speaks the truth, and you can only ask one question to find out which is which, but if they don’t like the question you’re randomly selected for invasive cavity searches. I hate flying.
T
TheTerrasque • 5 points
I wish they would put up a sign on each airport what was expected in the security check. I end up having to ask and half of them answer as if I just insulted their mother.
Z
Zebidee • 3 points
Even when they do, the signs are outdated or wrong. One I went through recently said your liquids had to fit in the ziploc bag, but also that you had to have purchase receipts for them! Obviously that’s insane, and it never even came up at the search.
J
jeetah • 7 points
I had a flight a couple of week ago and asked if I had to take off my belt. The guy said “only if you want to”. So I didn’t. Went through the machine and another guy asks “do you have on a belt? Ok, take it off, I’ll have to pat you down” What the hell
K
kethry_80 • 3 points
My credit card reimburses for pre-check, so even though I don’t fly often, it still makes sense to get it since it’s free thanks to my card benefits.
M
mlorusso4 • 3 points
Especially when you get it for free with your credit card
P
Politicsboringagain • 65 points
Yeah, my wife and I aren’t rich, but we fly a lot and her job has her fly even more than myself and her. So we would pay more than we already do just for the option to get through TSA faster. Hell, I usually carry so much tech when we fly (cameras and things) it’s worth it just to not take things out of my bag.
V
Veggies-are-okay • 14 points
I will wait in the longer pre check line just so I don’t have to take my shoes off and walk through the spinning vortex of surveillance.
G
gilbs24 • 3 points
Anytime I’ve gone though the regular line at msp, I’ve still was prechecked
R
Rukes • 14 points
NEXUS is even better: NEXUS, Global Entry & PreCheck – $120 for 5 years Global Entry & PreCheck – $120 for 5 yesrs PreCheck – $85 for 5 years
C
ClubMeSoftly • 8 points
The real benefit there is/was crossing the Can/Usa border in about 30 seconds. When I would do cross-border mail runs, I’d pick out a specific car in the southbound line, and when heading back north, take note of how far along it had gotten. I was usually in and out while they were still waiting.
S
SanDiegoDude • 28 points
I signed up for precheck in 2012 for like 80 bucks. Been renewing every 5 years, been fantastic. I don’t fly nearly as much anymore, but this is well worth the cost for those rare times I do still travel.

Credit card reimbursement
B
BruceInc • 3 points
If you have almost any travel specific credit card you can get a statement credit towards pre✅ and global entry
A
AndyjHops • 64 points
I travel for work and exclusively fly coach, unless the airline decides to give me a free upgrade. Pre heck is a godsend for travelers like me who may have as many as 5 flights in a week That said, large corporations like the one that I work for probably started making a fuss. Any slowdown in airport operations hits them hard.
T
TurnkeyLurker • 6 points
>Pre heck is a godsend for travelers like me Pre Heck sounds better than Pre Hell 👹 (Probably maintained by Phil, the Prince of Insufficient Light 🥄)^/s
A

Member before precheck, when you could just go get on a plane?
J
Javasteam • 23 points
Its not so much they love pre check as they hate the standard entry process…. *edit*: for good reason…
M
Manojative • 19 points
Here’s me who got pre check and still sits in a middle sit on asle 46.
R
rexspook • 80 points
Precheck isn’t just a rich person thing. Anyone who flies more than once per year likely has it. It costs like $80 for a five year approval.
T
TriangleTransplant • 36 points
And tons of credit cards have it as a perk of the card.
S
sentrygentry • 3 points
Exactly. I would get the argument if it were $750 or something, but people complain about the price and then specifically go to the airport to eat before their flight and spend the same amount at overpriced Applebees
M
modsarebadmmkay • 3 points
precheck is under $100; if you can afford to fly you can afford precheck
B

Global entry is pretty nuts. You just walk right in.

This administration doesn’t seem to care about causing lawsuits. Probably enough rich people called Trump this morning to bitch about it that he yelled at Noem to undo it.
