The topic “Jalisco Mexico” is currently trending due to significant news surrounding the recent killing of a leader from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel by the Mexican army. On February 22, 2026, The Washington Post reported on this operation, which aimed to capture the powerful figure, drawing considerable attention due to the cartel’s notorious reputation and influence in the region.

The operation and subsequent death of the cartel leader have heightened concerns regarding security in Mexico, prompting the U.S. Embassy to issue a security alert on the same date. This alert highlights ongoing security operations, which adds to the urgency and gravity of the situation, likely resulting in increased searches as individuals seek information about the implications of these developments.

Given the cartel’s prominence in drug trafficking and organized crime, the event has prompted a surge in interest from both local and international audiences. The combination of direct military action against a high-profile criminal figure and the warnings from the U.S. government has significantly driven up search volume related to Jalisco, reflecting a widespread desire for information and updates on the evolving security situation in Mexico.

The Mexican people deserve so much better than to be under of the thumb of these fucks. Hopefully a lot of the Jalisco cartel end up dead or in jail as they try carrying out their revenge attacks.
S
StrongPrinciple5284 • 759 points
Idk specifics here but usually there’s a power vacuum and the existing members of a cartel fight and kill each other to take control. Unfortunately there are always countless civilians caught in the crossfire of such battles
D
doubleapowpow • 211 points
And then a CIA trained cartel authority figure comes in with the backing of the US government and siezes power.

oh wow, this is a big one. this dude has basically been the top cartel guy in mexico for like a decade or more. been reading about him for years.

Yup, there’s the famous phone call where he calls a police chief and asks him what the fuck his officers are doing harrassing my boys. And the police chief apologizes and promises to pull back everybody.

ZoharModifier9 • 855 points
Yep, tho El Mencho does sound shook in that interaction. He probably thought the government is gonna replace his ass despite all the bribes he is giving the government. And now it looks like it finally happened.
V
Vegetable-Zebra-7514 • 360 points
Sounds shook?? Homeboy really told the cop that he would kill all them, their families, and even their dogs if they kept playing with him. I don’t think he was shook lol

I live around the state this sack of crap used to crime around, and as i’m writting this they are burning convenience stores and pharmacies in retaliation. I don’t know what gas station sushi did to these guys, but they are pissed.
P
Poku115 • 4,040 points
The worst part is how they carry themselves around as if they deserve to lash out, like if they were a humanitarian force or rebellion. They are the worst of the worst when it comes to ‘people’ and i use that in a broad sense
J
jaytix1 • 1,591 points
Yeah, you’d think these guys would at least be willing to accept the risk that comes with the territory. I’m not saying they can’t be upset that their boss was killed, but the game is the game.
F
frolfer757 • 882 points
This is the game. It’s showing that the next time you get our boss it comes with the cost of burning down the cities infra (and the other horrible shit they will do in retaliation). There’s especially a major incentive for the successor to order those actions as they directly protect him.
I
IntriguinglyRandom • 420 points
I look forward to the game being no longer in their favor. They’re not special, they are meat bags just like the rest of us.

Idk why you’d expect violent criminals to behave rationally like they have any respect for whatever rules they don’t feel beholden to.
P
PassionV0id • 37 points
They are behaving rationally. They just have different morality and objectives than normal people. The point is to cause terror, “this is what happens when you come for us.” Completely rational, despite being psychotic.
L
LaserGuidedPolarBear • 39 points
They are acting rationally from their perspective. This response by whoever is now in control of the organization is calculated to establish a high cost for something like this happening in the future in order to reduce the likelihood of it happening to them, as well as demonstrating strength to solidify their new position of power.
B
BellacosePlayer • 23 points
Its probably less about being upset and more making it so that there’s less appetite for taking out the boss next time

Y
yesastortas • 825 points
Its to put fear on people You can already read people in r mexico saying we should let druglords alone so they dont burn stores
E
EmbarrassedHelp • 708 points
Unfortunately leaving them alone just pushes the problem down the road, while people still end up getting murdered, raped, and tortured.
I
Inside-Yak-8815 • 320 points
Exactly, scum like the cartels need to be faced head on with an equal or greater show of force.
R
RichardKingg • 123 points
I mean I approve but it isn’t as cut and dry, politicians and cartels are one in the same, they screw a group to make another stronger, its like cutting one head of the hydra and 5 more take its place. This problem needs to be dealt with hollistically, more education, combating corruption inside the government and more measures, sadly the government will not implement these, or else they would be shooting themselves in the foot.
K
kwaaaaaaaaa • 87 points
Yeah, the line between cartel, politicians, and law enforcement is completely blurred from generations of having to live and operate together. For some people, it just became a way to make ends meet. These cartel hit operations always ends in a power vacuum and the next guy always seem worse. This is more than just drugs and murder, there is a whole socioeconomic factor that has to change, including external factors like the war on drugs and why it’s so profitable.
R
RichardKingg • 38 points
Totally agree, having the biggest drug market next door has an effect on this too, aside from the obvious societal issues mentioned
W
window-sil • 26 points
You have to cut off their money supply, but that’d involve substituting drug demand with something legal or somehow convincing users to stop using. I think it’s safe to say that wont happen, so they’ll always have a steady flow of money to pay a small army to do these things.
D
DoJu318 • 37 points
At this point the cartels drug business is one of the many they have their hand on. They are already human traffickers, they take legal business like farms by force, they also engage in racketeering and the government doesn’t do anything about it. I would not be surprised if drugs is less than half their income.
I
IneffableOpinion • 18 points
A police officer investigating phone scams says a lot of the calls are traced back to call centers operated by terrorist cells and drug cartels. They human traffic people to work in the call centers.
W
window-sil • 14 points
Very true. Drugs are a big part, and imho probably the easiest to do something about, at least in theory. The other stuff is typical organized crime shit, like shaking down businesses or stealing — that’s going to require force. The other other thing, a sort of meta issue, is corruption. These guys are able to operate because they work with elected officials, police, and who knows who else — I bet there’s a lot of foreign spies crawling around too.
K
Kassssler • 120 points
Yeah, but the cartels aren’t like gangs or something. They literally have enough wealth, influence, and power that they are essentially a state within a state. And they have zero issue with burning everything down around them. If Mexico ever took on the cartels full force much of the country would wind up like the still burning dumpster fires that is Haiti, Yemen, and Myanmar. I don’t think people know how bad those countries are right now either. It may seem like I am saying do nothing, but theres literally no easy answers when the result is either civil war or inviting foreign powers into your borders to help(who probably won’t leave once you let em in.)
E
ElevatedAngling • 29 points
Same with taking out one leader that just gets replaced by another
J
Jaggz691 • 31 points
It’s the exact reason. Unless you want the change, things will continue to be the same. Some cons need to be heavily weighed but terrorism like this needs to be rooted out earth AND stem. Edit: English
G
grad1939 • 173 points
Why would the attack civilian business? Wouldn’t that make the local population angrier at them and they demand more support from local authorities?
T
TraditionalProgress6 • 330 points
Sadly, a lot of people will blame the government for not leaving the cartels alone, which is what the cartels aim for by terrorizing people.
T
triculious • 59 points
The more you read it the more stupid it becomes but such is life in Mexico.
