The topic of the 2026 Winter Olympics freestyle skiing is trending now due to significant developments in the competition, specifically related to the women’s Olympic freeski halfpipe final being postponed due to adverse snow conditions. This unexpected delay likely prompted increased interest and searches as fans and followers seek updates on the event’s rescheduling, leading to a surge in search queries.

Additionally, notable figures in the sport, such as Olympic skier Eileen Gu, are in the news due to their involvement in current discussions. Gu’s response to comments made by JD Vance highlights the intersection of sports and broader societal commentary, which often attracts attention and drives searches for more information about her views and the skiing events.

Moreover, as the 2026 Winter Olympics continues to unfold, results from ongoing competitions, like those indicated on Day 14 of the games, contribute to heightened interest. Specific performance outcomes and medal tallies in events like freestyle skiing are typically closely followed, further fueling search activity as fans track the progress of their favorite athletes and teams.

Hey folks: today is going to be a jam-packed day of action. Please take extra special care to ID the event you’re watching, and by the specific event — the type of free style, speed skating, or bobsled that’s on. Much appreciated!

For those who could not see it earlier Peacock finally has the fs gala available to watch and with no ads

If you’re not watching Miracle tonight, I have to question if you’re actually an American

I’ve never seen it but I will do so after Michigan vs Duke is done

I remember exactly where I was when I heard that our college boys beat the mighty Soviets. Makes me a little sad that we’ll never have a moment like that again.

Kennedy to the people who accuse him of cheating https://i.redd.it/36vpblh1qxkg1.gif Well done on the gold boys, did Canada proud Well the downvotes are a change from the curling sub, who understand curling better than the majority on here do.

Respectfully….I prefer [the other Kennedy from Canada](https://www.imdb.com/name/nm6952526/) because she can sweep away any mystery at all and doesn’t even have to touch it.

If anyone missed the FS gala, the one performance I would recommend the most was the panda by the men’s gold medalist. It was truly unhinged in the best possible way

Bill Hader saw that and thought that someone had decided to take his Stefon bits seriously because…THIS GALA HAD EVERYTHING!

…I mean…you could probably duct tape them to your feet and then use the brooms as ski poles right and then have someone thrust you across the ice…right?
S

Like when Spongebob was ice skating with frozen krabby patties but with curling stones

rewatched the mass start speed skating… that is some truly funny shit. i mean the womens event was fucking awesome and the americans played it perfectly and i’ve rarely seen someone so happy to get a bronze, but damn the mens was heeeelarious. like the peloton would occasionally like half heartedly start sprinting only to pull back after like 100 meters… leaders were like 3/4 into lapping the pack. really one of the most embarrassingly funny things ive ever seen at an olympics. the dude that won was literally doing circles and zigzags the last 100 meters just fucking around lmao

Cool for Denmark to get their second ever Winter Olympic medal lol

That was pretty bizarre! I was alternating between laughing and yelling at the TV to go faster lol I get it, classic racer’s prisoner’s dilemma and Stolz did a pretty good job explaining it in his interview, but it’s still a bit hard to believe nobody wanted to go for it in the Olympic finals. Or that they let those two take that lead in the first place

It fun listening to the announcers, they were so baffled
C

I felt like I was watching a Looney Tunes episode when it was happening, my brain blue screened, and all I could think was “This isn’t seriously happening right?”. Also for more fun Prisoner’s Dilemma stuff, check out the Jean le Flambeur series by Hannu Rajaniemi.

Doing circles and old enough to be the father of most of the guys behind him.

Maybe this happens every Olympics and I did not noticed as much, but it seems like especially this one has a ton of huge-profile athletes saying that this is their last Olympics this time.

Can someone explain to me why the 3 other guys in four-man bobsled have to get into the sled? If all they’re doing is pushing at the start then what’s the point of them being in the sled?
I
i_m_sherlocked • 3 points
Force = mass * acceleration Work = Force * displacement displacement/distance is fixed and equal for all teams, hence the 4-men can only maximize Force via all getting in and good steering something like that…
C
Coyote_Shepherd • 1 points
Mass, inertia, and energy…their added weight helps to make the sled go faster…but it also makes the sled more challenging to control and that’s what makes for good competition.

anyone know when/what time the womens freeski halfpipe will be on tv (not streaming) regardless if its a replay time or not?

I am already feeling the post-Olympics blues everyone. I really live for these moments! I think I sometimes get too invested, but how can one not be inspired by how much these athletes give of themselves and put on the line! Winning is so much fun ofc, like can be very fun haha, but just cheering on and watching that pursuit of excellence is amazing. I love it so much!!! Also the memorable and funny moments always feel extra hilarious, it’s just really fun to be a part of as an audience

originalusername4567 • 1 points
I will miss it too! Now that football and the Olympics are over all I have to watch live is college basketball, and that’s wrapping up soon too. Will be difficult to fill the time.

I’m feeling it hard. Figure skating was the main sport I followed this Olympics, and I got a pit in my stomach today during the skating gala when they all took one last bow. It’s weird, I’m a big NBA fan but usually never feel this weird parasocial relationship w the athletes on TV. But this time around I felt so nervous for Ilia, Amber Glenn, Lindsey Vonn, etc. I think it’s this unique event where the world feels like it pauses for 2 weeks, and we can learn to feel empathy for people we’ve never met in our lives by hearing their stories, experiences, struggles, and sharing their humanity as our fellow countrymen and world citizens.
H
harrisarah • 1 points
It’s been pretty awesome and I’ll miss them for sure, but I’m also looking forward to turning off the TV for a while… I’m not used to getting up at 4 am to watch sports for two weeks straight
J
jujubeans8500 • 2 points
yes! I would try to do the time conversions and then panic when I woke up later and realized I had missed so many events! the dawn to dusk high-key emotions were A LOT, being able to come down from that nervous energy will be nice too

I basically took two weeks off work to just watch this. Am I the only one?
S

Not only you. I have only left the house one time for 3 hours since the opening ceremony. I feel like I will be rejoining society after Sunday.
J
jujubeans8500 • 3 points
I work from home so that was convenient, but I probably accomplished 3 hours of work max!

The Olympics make us all feel less alone, they give us a picture of a positive future where we all can get along while still bettering ourselves, and…they act as an escape into something amazing that helps us to shed the weight of the real world for a bit and just…soar.
J
jujubeans8500 • 2 points
this is so beautifully put!! Yes you really hit the exact emotional high note the Olympics provide, especially the feeling less alone part. That’s why it was especially fun to live stream it all together here!
C
Coyote_Shepherd • 1 points
Indeed and that’s why after the Paris Games I had to stop myself from running up to anyone who was wearing merch from the games and IMMEDIATELY striking up a conversation with them, like I do with everyone here lol I’m probably going to be buying Olympics merch SOON because the more I think about it…and maybe it’s just because of these games or something else….the more I realize how much apart of who I am the Olympics is and my life. And that might be another reason why people get sad, because it feels like someone else and something else totally out of their control is turning off the lights on a part of themselves for a few years.

Ugh, thank you. I told myself it would replay so I didn’t watch and was getting nervous since it wasn’t showing up.
S
Southern_Struggle • 2 points
I’ve noticed with their replay sometimes it takes a few hours after the event has ended before they put it up.
S
starlady42 • 3 points
well, it takes time to put in ONE THOUSAND COMMERCIAL BREAKS I’ve stopped even trying to watch replays. (Insert rant here that, halfway through writing, I realized should be in the broadcaster complaints thread)

Sad that many people still don’t know about the FS Galas. And sad they don’t air it completely.
