After Canada tied it up I was way more optimistic. With Finland playing defense for so long it’s hard to turn on the offense while the other team is riding that high. Was crapping my pants while we were down though, you never know if they are gonna be able to keep these late game comebacks going or not

Canadas worst period all tournament has been the 1st. All through the round robin, it seemed like teams just gave their all 100% the first period and usually we just hung on until they ran out of gas and then we scored the bulk of our goals. Even in our 5-0 and 5-1 wins it was tight after the 1st. This time Finland just capitalized when they could and we chased the game from behind.

Team Canada = Team Lucky to win that game. The high-stick penalty call could have been let go by the ref with around 2 minutes left in the game where the winner goes on to Gold medal match. Was a love tap, even the Canadian announcer knew it, said, “Mac sold it well.” The lucky bounce off Saros on the tying goal after Marchand got pushed into him, razor thin offsides call, all while outshooting the Finns 2 to 1. Luck would have been needed for the fins to win. The reality of the sport is that the puck is an inconsistent shape on an inconsistent surface that cannot be calculated at the speed of the game.
