Tbf, I feel like Toy Story is a franchise that always tries to be good. I wasn’t the biggest fan of 4, but you can tell a lot of effort was put into both its story and animation. It’s not like, for example, the Despicable Me sequels.

I agree! tbh I haven’t seen TS4 since shortly after it came out so I can’t comment on that but I do remember feeling like the story was very fragmented (and not in the way a TS film usually is, where there are multiple groups of toys doing their own thing before coming together). idk maybe it’s time for a rewatch to see if my opinion has changed with age! tbh though as much as I love Pixar I’ve been feeling similarly about their sequels for a while now; I think the only one I’ve given grace was Inside Out 2 because it felt like a natural continuation of the first movie’s themes and thus had something to say. I think also as I’ve continued my schooling and learned about human development more I look back on it particularly fondly because I can tell they really put a lot of thought and care into the depiction of childhood morality. But I’m getting sidetracked now lol
