The topic “stock market open presidents day” is currently trending with over 100K searches due to recent discussions concerning stock market operations during Presidents Day in 2026. The clarity surrounding market closures on holidays, particularly with Presidents Day approaching, prompts individuals to seek information on the trading schedule.

Recent news articles have highlighted that the stock market will be closed on Presidents Day, also known as George Washington’s Birthday, in 2026. This confirmation from various reputable sources, including the Detroit Free Press, serves as an important informational update for traders and investors who need to plan their strategies around holiday schedules.

The significant search interest reflects a broader concern among investors about understanding how holiday closures may impact their trading decisions. As Presidents Day is a federal holiday, many are eager to clarify whether they should adjust their investment activities in light of the stock market being closed.

Trump is the best thing that ever happened to W’s legacy. I remember when I thought he was the bottom of the barrel. Probably my fault for thinking Republicans couldn’t get worse.

He have age of consent laws for the same reason we have minimum wage laws. If we didn’t, they would go lower.

“When they go low, we go lower.” There is no bottom for the GOP. With them you can always be even worse than the worst person you’ve ever heard of.

Now this is real talk. Hard to imagine we would gladly take Dubya back some day. The standards were at the bottom. But the orange made a deep hole.

It’s one of the few times I had any respect for W: he didn’t hit the deck, he popped right back up and faced the 2nd shoe.

It’s so mean cause he is funny in hindsight. But in hindsight he was just such a dumb pick against Al Gore. I’m not a big fan of „if“ but imagine Al Gore and our world right now.

What would America be like without a stolen 2000 presidential election? Without a 9/11 because Bush didn’t ignore Clinton’s outgoing national security officials about bin Laden? Without a Patriot Act? Without Bush reassigning all FBI white collar crime sections to international terrorism? Without DHS? Without an Iraq invasion? Without dismantling market regulations and allowing the 2008 Recession? Here are some thoughts from a contemporary of the Bush Jr presidency: https://www.uvm.edu/~sgutman/The_Worst_President.html

More importantly: a GOP that wasn’t shaped by Karl Rove, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. Bush Jr. was easily manipulated by immoral, craven bastards who saw the power and money to be gained. Bush Jr. became the template for seeking out someone like Trump: rich since birth, with no fixed policies or ideals of his own. Trump is infinitely worse than Bush Jr. , but he was the perfect figurehead to get Project 2025 pushed through.

Not as much, for sure. But I think the ending of the Cold War left a two-party system with no external enemy, making partisan politics turn very ugly in the 90s and 00s. Social media that rewards rage bait under the guise of “engagement” would still have happened, and its contribution to political division is well documented in many countries around the world.
E
elgatomegustamucho • 50 points
I can see your point mate. You can’t imagine how crazy that sounds to other European countries. I mean no wonder the democrats have no unity. Their party has to represent every political spectrum that is not braindead, opportunistic or just hateful.
T
ThreadCountHigh • 27 points
Part of the reason they need the “big tent” strategy is that Fox News has spent 30 years telling people lies and exaggerations about how terrible Democrats are. There are plenty of people who vote GOP straight down the ticket and will swear that they will never vote Democrat, ever. The margins are so thin they’re desperate for every vote and afraid of alienating anybody, which seems to result in a lot of apathy by people who don’t feel represented by their “safe” stances and don’t turn up to vote. “Radicals” like Mamdani excite people and get them to the polls, but the old-school establishment is terrified of people like him.

We can’t tell the full story without talking about how education has been defunded deeply while the tax rate on the top earners has dropped from 91% in 1960 to 28% in 1990. Fuck voter id We need voter IQ

Yeah the two party system we have fucking sucks. This is from Marco Rubio, the child of Cuban immigrants/refugees. He would have sent his own parents back to Cuba. He focused, though, on “mass migration,” which he claimed “threatens the cohesion of our societies, the continuity of our culture, and the future of our people.” He called for Europe to join with the U.S. in rejecting the tenets of the post–World War II vision, claiming that “[w]e are part of one civilization—Western civilization. We are bound to one another by the deepest bonds that nations could share, forged by centuries of shared history, Christian faith, culture, heritage, language, ancestry, and the sacrifices our forefathers made together for the common civilization to which we have fallen heir.”

What culture is being threatened exactly? Who exactly gets to decide what is the go to culture of the United States? Not even 200 hundred years ago we had a divisive war on whether rich white guys owning people was okay or not. People still wave that flag and say “The South will rise again” like a rallying cry. For what? To own people who were your fellow men again? These people can cast a vote just like anyone else, and we still have people who act like their individual vote doesn’t matter. Now the game has changed with new and improved nomenclature. Prisons are still a free game for slave labor. So the folks who still wave that flag make sure to pack them full. It used to be they bought their own slaves but they figured out how to make the taxpayer do it for them. To add to it for anyone interested look up minimum occupancy clauses. They are typically used to ensure investors get their money back on projects like hotels and such but can also be applied to …prisons! Also just because a prison isn’t privately owned doesn’t mean that the businesses nearby are not employing labor from it. Prison labor isn’t just making license plates. A lot more businesses than I expected utilize this for part of their workforce. Further subsidizing their operations to the taxpayer. So now we have slave barracks that are extremely well funded and guarded. They use crime enforcement as a way to stock them. Because people in most prisons are “undesirables”, nobody will really care about how they are treated. The owning class has even pushed desperate people to think “3 hots and a cot” is better than being left to society without aid. They bank on people being desperate and putting on their own shackles for belief of an improvement for their situation even. All the while we have beds in these boxes for each Epstein File conspirator that are still empty because the folks who benefit from them don’t want to be in them either. This is only one reason why voting matters.

It turned so ugly because Newt Gingrich needed some way to finally break the 30-40 seat majority the Dems always had in the House. “Contract with America”.

Yep, Democratic and Republican politicians used to be friendly and hang out with each after hours before Newt. However, Newt pushed House Republicans to return to their districts every weekend which caused those bonds to disappear. It is easier to go on the media and call the other side all kinds of names if you have no relationship with them besides fighting in Congress.

And probably half a million more Americans in it because of how Covid was handled. Those deaths are on Trumps head. Some probably couldn’t be avoided, but how many could have if we treated it like other countries at least pretending to put lives over profit.

Yeah. Fuck the Republican Party. A Supreme Court that is filled with people that obey to their party but not their country. What a shame.

Also Google ‘hanging chad election’. Back when it was paper voting, if the ballot hole left that small piece of paper hanging, they didn’t count it. They called it a hanging chad. Wild times.

Now are talking about the „if“. I would even say that there would be perhaps no 9/11 without bush.
