Britt Ekland in bikini, flying cars, killer midgets, laser cannons, sheriff Pepper, whats not to like?
F
FortifiedPuddle • 32 points
Britt Ekland in a bikini accidentally triggering the base explode count down with her bikini clad bottom no less. Which there was no way to then stop. It’s just the most crazy lack of intention driving the plot. Blonde lady knocks with her bum something while bending over. Base go boom.

This is one of my favorite Bond movies. Because he basically goes against his alter ego and has to watch his own back.

And yet, it’s a fucking masterpiece.

TL Didn’t Read TMWTGG is a fun Bond film
T
The_Real_Miggy • 28 points
You should. This is the funniest thing related to the Bond franchise I’ve ever read.
B
BBQ_HaX0r • 7 points
I read it all. The only counter point I have is: TMWTGG is a fun Bond film.
T
The_Real_Miggy • 2 points
I agree. I like the film but still think this is funny commentary.
D

I concur. His incredulity had such a bar argument feel I had to crack a beer.

No. The funniest thing I’ve ever heard was the Sean Connery/The Rock connection.

A
Agent00Bond • 13 points
Good theory though I contest if you come into TMWTGG expecting a psychological horror film like I did you will have a higher rating of the film.

S tier rant. Only thing I’ve got is JW is from Louisiana, not Alabama.
R
Redsmoker37 • 6 points
A redneck hick like JW taking a VACATION in Thailand of all places is pretty over-the-top. This is the sort of a guy who’d think a vacation in Ohio was “exotic” and someplace like Hawaii is about as “foreign” as he’d ever get (yes, I know Hawaii was not foreign in 1974).
B
BuddenceLembeck • 4 points
Also, for some reason, he’s inexplicably shopping for an American car while on vacation in Thailand.
R
Redsmoker37 • 3 points
Apparently AMCs weren’t even available in Thailand, but there was a marketing deal with the movie to use them. So the AMC Ambassadors as cop cars was also a hoax.
W
Wonderful_Discount59 • 2 points
Maybe he just wanted to learn about new cultures to be racist against.
R
Redsmoker37 • 1 points
He continually calls them “pointy heads” and talks about them wearing “pa-jamas”
G
GrimyLilPimp • 1 points
A guy like that from that time and place would have just put Thai people in a Japanese bucket. One big ol’ racist gumbo.
R

They did strongly imply that his wife drug him along
G
gcalfred7 • 12 points
but there is a “totally rad” (Is that how the cool kids say it nowadays) car stunt in a AMC Hornet. Suck iit Fast and Furious! Also, didn’t realize AMC cars were so popular in \*check notes\* Thailand. [https://youtu.be/NaqXxC0rhSw?si=y3K1QhGWDyNdBBp7](https://youtu.be/NaqXxC0rhSw?si=y3K1QhGWDyNdBBp7)

A fantastic stunt they do their best to ruin with a slide whistle.
C
CarMeltScratch • 1 points
I think we all just need to get past the damn slide whistle. Its been more than 50 years… let’s just learn to live with it
S
SpecialistParticular • 1 points
Can’t. It’s up there with the Tarzan yell. Best you can say about it is they were being “meta” or breaking the fourth wall long before it became popular with the Buffy crowd.
C
CountingOnThat • 9 points
Also, think of how important the death of 002 would be to Her Majesty’s Secret Service; they’d really want to look into that, right? And then think of how easily Bond solves the mystery: you just, well, *go there,* and then, uh, *get on your knees to put your lips below her navel.*
P
Proof_Occasion_791 • 18 points
Not to mention the fact that the slug that killed Bill Fairbanks (002) which Bond retrieves from the belly dancer provides an important clue to track down Scaramanga (Q is able to determine who likely manufactured the bullet). This is all fine but completely unnecessary, since the plot of the movie is kicked off when *a perfectly intact golden bullet* with “007” etched into it is mailed to MI6 headquarters. Still, at least the Beirut scene gives us a good old-fashioned fist fight, a real rarity in the Roger Moore era.
P
Powerage07 • 2 points
…thats an excellent point on the 007 etched fully intact bullet!
C
CarMeltScratch • 2 points
Unless, the 007 bullet was mass-manufactured. Moonpig.com doing a special line of weapons-related ephemera
N
NYfaninGA • 9 points
Don’t forget the infamous slide whistle. Someone had to dream that one up!
S
SamIAm4242 • 1 points
Prepare to be horrified – it was the film‘s well-respected composer, not some suit or some hack in the sound department.
N
NYfaninGA • 1 points
It was the composer’s idea??
S
SamIAm4242 • 1 points
Yep. He talked about it on the audio commentary track of one of the DVD editions. Said he regretted it/thought it was the wrong choice after the fact.
S
Spiritual-Fly8832 • 10 points
Did you forget to mention the part where Bond is knocked unconscious by a sumo wrestler posing as a statue in a garden?
W
wednesdaymagician • 7 points
That was a fun read, I never thought of like that. However, I’ve been saying for a long time that the novel TMWTGG in the context of Flemings series can only be explained as a dream and gets more dream-logic and almost lynchesque the more you think about it.
S
SubstandardDef • 8 points
When I saw all of the films at the cinema a few years ago to mark the series’ sixtieth, I saw TMwtGG with a friend, and it was the most fun I’d had in the cinema for years; we laughed our way all the way through the film. So, as deranged and as bizarre this film is, I will always have a soft spot for it.
