What I saw today: 8. Ski Big Air women: Only qualifying round, but those jumps were lovely. Oldham, Gu, Gremaud, Muir placed first four, just another order from the slopestyle final. NZL Trotter and US Henderson failed to qualify after first jumps on the level of those 4. 7. Large Hill: Prevc won, as expected, he’s on fire this season. Ren Nikaido second, and the Pole Tomasiak doubles down and gets a bronze after his silver on normal hill! Dude is only 19! Kobayashi made quite a few places good after a poorer first jump, but it was only enough for 6th. 6. Biathlon: A 22 yo Norwegian, Maren Kirkeeide, wins the sprint. She never won a sprint before in her World Cup career. 5. Drama in XC Relay: 2nd Swede loses a ski when leading and loses over one minute until she gets a new one. Her colleagues still brought home silver. 4. Moguls: shit weather, quite some fails, but another gold for Australia! 3. Curling: So much Curling. After the fingergate from yesterday, I watched their fingers like a hawk. 😂 Canadian dude did it again against Switzerland. 2. Ice Hockey: Swiss women made the semifinals against Finland, quite surprisingly, after they lost in the groups against them. Canada qualified too, as expected. In men’s, Finland made the score of the tournament so far against Italy. You don’t see 11-0 often.. 1. Brazil won gold in Giant Slalom! Braathen was expected to compete for medals, but he was not the first favorite for gold. He can double it in slalom too! Didn’t see Speed skating or short track, those were too quick. 😁

This was the norm for us for decades. Montreal and Calgary were the first two Olympics where the host nation didn’t win any gold. We’ve been spoiled since the 2000s but it’s time to rethink our national funding, I guess.
