The topic of “parliament” is currently trending due to a notable increase in legislative activities across several European nations. One significant event is the introduction of a bill in the UK Parliament aimed at lowering the voting age to 16. This proposal is likely generating considerable public interest and search activity as it addresses a pivotal issue concerning youth engagement in politics.

Additionally, developments within the European Parliament, such as a German MEP’s recent shift to a liberal group, are stirring discussions regarding political alignments and legislative negotiations. This change marks the beginning of critical negotiations in the EU Parliament, drawing attention to the intricacies of political maneuvering within the EU context, thereby increasing search interest in parliamentary processes.

Moreover, Italy’s Parliament recently approved an 8.8 billion euro budget for the GCAP jet fighter programme. This significant financial commitment to military and defense initiatives prompts inquiries into parliamentary decision-making and its implications for national and international security. Such higher-stakes decisions typically lead to spikes in public interest, prompting more searches related to parliamentary proceedings.

Dutch people going to expat in Belgium’s Vlanderen, don’t forget we have plenty of room in French Wallonia ! Rent is VERY cheap. So your future wages…
E

I would rather pay the tax than live in Wallonia.

Dying there feels very expensive if you are an heir.
L

Look at the taxes before moving. I’m from Belgium and there’s no way I’m going back.
O

The taxes are low compared to the new dutch system.

On assets, perhaps. On income, it’s a bloodbath. I’d lose around 1500€ per month, *net*, every month, just on income taxes. It’d actually be even worse. Companies pay far more taxes to employ people. Either my employer would have to pay 40k€ more per year (lol), or he’d pay me 40k less, so I’d end up losing 2500€ *net* per month. Cost of living isn’t even that low. 1200€ per month for a 85 sqm flat, and that’s in my hometown with 20% of unemployment, not even in a fancy flemish city.

I love your inheritance taxes, especially those where they basically take 80% from non-linial heirs. It’s crazy.

Don’t forget gas prices are cheaper than the Netherlands 😜

Aslong the taxation for not realised ROI is 0 or at least least than 36%, consider the deal sealed.

Even €1/month is too expensive for a massive mansion in Wallonia. I wouldn’t live there if they’d pay me 😂

Dutch people still have to pay a tax for leaving the open air prison for five years after 🥹
L
lealoureiro • 23 points
Will we starting paying using new rules in tax return done 2028 for period of 1/1/2027-31/12/2027, or tax return done 2029 for period 1/1/2028-31/12/2028?
I
I_Rarely_Jump • 10 points
It would start over the period of 1-1-2028 to 31-12-2028 yes, so in the tax return done in 2029 (over 2028).
C
Capable-Basket8233 • 13 points
So if I leave the Netherlands before end 2027 ill be safe from this nonsense ?
R
RDUKE7777777 • 9 points
At least your money has to leave…

I thought being present a certain number of days in the country decides if you have to file taxes. Not if you have the bank account in the country
G
gardrew • 2 points
Even if you have an account in a different country, theoretically you still have to declare the assets as far as I know
C
Capable-Basket8233 • 8 points
Yea thats what I was saying. It depends on if you are a tax resident in the Netherlands not where the bank account is located. They automatically list my German n26 account when I file my taxes
S
Sephass • 2 points
I guess even until mid of 2028 as long as your primary residence changes for majority of the year? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
D
def__eq__ • 1 points
Yes, and your primary residence is determined by number of days (183 days in the country) or if less, then if you can substantiate a clear connection with the primary residence.

My guess is tax return done 2028(because the law takes an action) but I’d be glad to hear the experts here ☺️
R
Reinis_LV • 44 points
I expect them to revert the decision. I will be shocked if they actually are going to commit to this.
V
Visual_Weekend1599 • 15 points
may take 10 years of litigation, or more
S
Separate_Tooth4705 • 8 points
Didn’t they say in the article that they will first find a way to tax people on their actual earned cash so realised gains and that this solution must be presented to parliament in early 2028 at the latest?
J
jtsg_ • 1 points
they did – so they may eventually move to realized gains (like most other countries) but unclear how long that takes
C

I guess netherlands is just a pilot country for an extensive roll out..

We need a wealth tax!
F

But on true wealth. Not on 60k considered wealth like today. I want to see taxes on people owning 5+ million in assets. These are the true wealthy.
N

Absolutely. Tax the trusts in tax havens.

You mean they need that money to give tax cuts to big companies?
E
Etikoza • 28 points
This. Tax to corporates unchanged.
