As bad as this is I’d much rather we drop points now than in April or May. Still 12 games to go and I think City will drop points again sooner or later. One thing we all need to accept is that we seriously lack world class attackers who are gamebreakers, something City have in abundance. Balance wise, we have a slight edge over City in defence and midfield, but the thing is even City’s ageing players have bags of title winning experience. They may not be able to control games as well as they used to but their experienced players will know how to manage games and see out teams.

If we’re gonna play dogshit football at least just win titles but with one shot on goal I have a lack of faith in this football. That carbao cup is huge for this team I think if we don’t win that, this whole team could implode.

Let’s see when this fan base start to realize it’s not about who is out there playing it’s how the manager sets up the team to play, look at that 180 from Man Utd as soon as the fraud is gone

Azurfax • 1 points
I feel like this is oversimplifying what’s going on at Man U. Man U is winning because they are hungry to prove that they are good players and it was all Amorim’s fault, because they have one game per week as other teams are stretched, and because they have no pressure under an interim manager. They have good players, but they will at some point be expected to win all games again by their fans, the boos will start when Sesko doesn’t make the .09 xg chance to draw West Ham in the 96’, and then they will stop playing hard and blame whoever comes in as the next manager. If they keeping winning games, they won’t be the underdogs, teams will frustrate them, and their fans will be posting exactly what you are – blaming the manager. It is hard to be the league leaders with every team coming at you and your fans on the edge, bed wetting every chance they get. Man U lost 18 games last season and came in 15th, so it’s pretty easy to do better.

Lol they are hungry? I guess we are not hungry to win a fucking league title after all these years then

Fans will continue to blame our attacking players when its clearly a coaching issue.

Massive hopium…. you can’t lose points to fucking Brentford and expect to win the league
W
Wanchor1 • 2 points
Brentford at home have only lost 2 games. 1 v city and 1 v forest (had big players out)
P
ProductGuy48 • 1 points
Doesn’t matter how many consecutive seasons have they been in the Premier League?

lol, literally the team that ended Man City’s 25-game unbeaten run in 2022-23. (FYI – Man City won the league.)

Wtf are you talking about. Brentford are really good.
P
ProductGuy48 • -13 points
No they aren’t. They are a team that’s lucky to stay in the Premier League 2 consecutive seasons

Good optimism but it’s simply not good enough from the squad dropping crucial points. We keep giving city life

City gave us life plenty of times this season. Works both ways. We’re not perfect and neither are they. But we are definitely better.

could have used ben white on for timber to give him a break. martinelli on the right and eze or jesus on the left as well. mosquera did very well today. norgaard on for zubimendi would have helped.

Are eze and ode shit or is our playstyle ruining them?
A

Eze at RCM is a waste in PL games..needs to be at LCM or LW. Eze RCM gimmick only works in Europe and cup games. Ode was looking really good when he came on, after our goal he reverted back into his usual ‘risk averse – too many touches’ mode.

Our players weren’t on it today, and arguably Arteta’s worst decisions this season. The Nwaneri loan looks like it’s going to haunt us (and if we can recall him, please pull that trigger asap), and Eze continues to just not be a factor since the NLD, whatever room to experiment we can afford against Wigan we need to take to nullify whatever trick Shit are going to try and pull. The only positives I can take away from this game is that Brentford have been in relatively good form and we were fortunate enough that the replacement and totally not occasion-coached ref couldn’t make it look too biased. Meanwhile Shieky’s PIGMOB silver plattered win at Anfield and a 3-0 home victory against a rather happless Fulham reads a whole lot better than what actually went on. Shit week, still top, moving on.

where would have nwaneri played today? instead of eze? instead of saka?
P

Arteta still didn’t know a single thing about squad rotation. We have former Brentford captain on our bench. He knew this stadium more than any one in our team. Zubimendi is almost anonymous in this game. These kind of games are beyond his control. We need to send Arteta on loan for an year to learn about squad rotation 😀😀😀.

Not making use of the Ex Player returning buff with Norgard was silly

Yeah and that Saka sub was not it

Hate to say it but Saka has become overrated, it doesn’t even move me anymore wether he is in the starting lineup or not, him and Odegaard just now feel like a bunch of overpaid rotation pieces. When the going gets tough I don’t look at any of these guys to make any difference. And it is very apparent we need a new striker in the summer or a new coach. Could be both depending on how the season plays out.

The expectations you guys have on gyokeres is pathetic. “He was good today, his hold up play was great” I mean thats what you expect from a standard striker to do, its the minimum requirment from any striker, gyokeres wasnt bought only for that. He was bought to do that plus win matches through scoring goals.
L

Always super isolated in the center and far from our wingers
P
Powerful_Practice787 • 5 points
His job to create space for himself and make himself available and score goals. Its the red thread this season
F

Gyokeres was the least of our problems

65m meant to win us the league. If we win, it definitely was not because of him.
P
Powerful_Practice787 • 2 points
Exactly. He was bought to win us matches like this, scoring a matchwinning 1-0 goal. Seems to me he mostly scores the 2-0 or 3-0 goal in the end of the match or penalties vs bottom teams

chrisd1680 • 1 points
4 of his goals came against Leeds. Another against Sunderland, and 1 against Burnley. So 6 out of his 8 goals are against promoted sides.

How the fuck these guys sniped us on a throw in and then fought harder for the last 30 min? Lack of desire from our team

The immediate moments after we score a goal is always disastrous. That’s on Arteta.

Defensive mentality. No killer instinct from the manager.

I reject the idea that this was such a poor performance, first half hour aside. Like the Sunderland away game this really felt like a tough, tough match and Brentford fully deserved a point. They defended and attacked very very well, the ref was calling a lot of soft fouls in their favor (the Gyok yellow was ridiculous in particular), and the crowd more than did their part. I see a lot of people shitting on Timber. Look, not gonna argue it wasn’t his best game but this guy has a lot of minutes on his legs and he has put in some phenomenal performances this year, honestly in the conversation for being one of the best RBs out there. Also have to take into consideration that he was lacking his main partner Saka for most of the game, who must be said looked like a player returning from injury when he came on. We have a lot to be proud of this season. To all those saying “bottlers,” I question if you’ve ever seen Arsenal REALLY bottle a game. I refer you to Arsenal from around 2009-2015, or even longer. THEEEEY bottled some games. I see this talk way, way too much considering we’ve been league leaders all season and have had stretches where we’ve had bigger and smaller gaps at the top this season. If we expect the players to have some resilience we as supporters need to show some resilience too!!

Really? – Not shooting. We had 2 shots on target and on several occasions we chose to pass instead of take what would have been a great chance to shoot. – Taking zero risks in the final third. Instead it was generally the horseshoe of sadness and eventually crossing. – Really poor defense of the long throw, a weapon we knew they had going into this game. Overall it was a poor performance and what we did badly screams of mentality issues.
