Oh, man. This one hurt. Harold and Maude has been in my Top 3 movies of all time since the first time I saw it as a kid in the 70s. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen everything Bud Cort’s done since from Electric Dreams to Son of Hitler. “I haven’t lived. I’ve died a few times.”

This movie is special to me in an odd way. I watched it in college back when Netflix still did DVD rentals and streaming as one service, and I think it was among the several films (In Bruges, Heathers, Very Bad Things) that piqued my interest in dark comedy. Also I realized at some point that one episode of As Told By Ginger was inspired by this, even ending with the “Maude” of that episode *dying face first in her food*, so that also made me want to check it out. I ended up trying to use “If You Want To Sing Out, Sing Out” for a student film but things ended up changing. RIP Bud
