Regarding Sturla…. From an ethical and communicative perspective, this raises serious questions about judgment and responsibility. The Olympic arena is a public stage dedicated to sporting excellence, collective achievement, and moments of shared celebration – not a forum for personal confession. While personal honesty can be admirable, ethical discretion matters just as much. Admitting to infidelity in this context was poorly timed and misplaced, inevitably diverting attention from the gold and silver medalists and from the sport itself. Private moral failings, however regrettable, remain the concern of those directly involved and do not gain moral weight simply by being disclosed publicly. We are generally bad in high altitude. Especially Samuelsson. This takes its toll in 20km. Skis were probably fine considering Nelin and Brandt, but maybe not as good as the French and Norwegians. Both looked off their best pace in Nove Mesto as well, so not sure this should be that shocking.

And he obviously views it as a terrible mistake himself, but ruining his entire career and previous achievements would probably be worse for him. For everyone else from his teammates who would be under scrutiny to his competitors who would have lost unfairly to the fans who would have reason to doubt the integrity of the sport, I would argue that a world cup winner cheating to win is worse than him being unfaithful.

But that’s the weird thing. He seems really emotionally intelligent, too. I never would have expected this from him, he’s like the most measured, undramatic person I see on TV. He royally fucked up.
