The recent surge in search interest for “mixed doubles curling” can be attributed to the Olympic mixed doubles curling final, in which Sweden triumphed over the United States. The event drew significant attention, especially with mainstream coverage from NBC News, which highlighted the key moments of the match. This high-stakes competition naturally captivated sports fans and those following the Olympics, leading to an increase in searches.

Additionally, reports from MetroWest Daily News provided details on USA Curling’s Korey Dropkin and the results of the gold medal match. Such specifics about the athletes and the outcomes contributed to the heightened interest, as viewers looked for more information regarding the match and its implications in the curling community.

The combination of the Olympic context, the prominence of the competing nations, and the detailed reporting on the final has collectively driven over 20,000 searches for mixed doubles curling, reflecting the excitement surrounding this event.

Watching a replay of short track speed skating. USA’s uniforms are absolute fire. No notes.

The best part of the day was seeing two sibling duos win team gold (Rasmus and Isabella Wranå from Sweden in mixed team curling and Domen and Nika Prevc from Slovenia in mixed team ski jumping)! The podium sweep from Sweden in women’s cross country skiing and the men’s figure skating short program were also nice to see.

There are some sports I’m surprised not really popular in the US. In the summer olympics that’s the handball. People love ice hockey and basketball so handball would be so natural fitting. Very physical, high intense, can be played on a basketball court, rules are not so complicated, played by both men and women etc. Feels like a natural fit for the US audience. I actually hope the 2028 summer olympics will boost significantly the popularity of the game!

I cannot handle anymore Italian food segments 😩 please stop torturing me

I was amused that they threw in there the fact that Italians would never have a cappuccino as an after-dinner drink. (Milk-based drinks are too heavy to have after 11 am or so. You have straight espresso after dinner.)

Why the heck does peacock web force me to opt out of tracking every 2 hours or so?

I know it’s still early on and usually Canada starts slow but…I can’t help but feel a little bit underwhelmed with our medal count so far. I thought we’d be doing a little better 4 days in with at least one gold. Is it just bad luck or the majority of our medal favorite events not scheduled until the second week of the games? I’m guessing we’ll pick up a bit with more curling, hockey, and speed skating so I’m trying to be patient lol, but I do feel like it’s trending toward a weaker performance overall compared to the past few Winter Olympics 🙁

Fit-Percentage3406 • 3 points
Hockey, traditional curling, and short track are sports Canada should clean up on and have only had 1 medal awarded I’m not sure if you’ve underperformed in some of the freestyle skiing events, but I think it’s a case of your medals are scheduled to be back loaded.
B
blindsidesarefun • 2 points
CBC projected Canada to win [27 medals](https://www.cbc.ca/sports/the-buzzer-newsletter-canada-2026-winter-olympic-medal-prediction-9.7067424). Based on who the projected medalists are, we should have three medals at this point (all bronze) – and that’s what we have (except it’s one silver and two bronze). We may still wind up underperforming if our top contenders struggle. But so far, it’s unfortunate scheduling. Thursday has the potential to be a big day.

Ski Shooty I’ve been telling everyone who will listen for years that they should watch biathlon, because (I’m biased) it’s an 11/10 sport. And now, everyone knows about biathlon because of Lægreid. BUT AT WHAT COST 😭 ![gif](giphy|82EFxN2hzi2DZo4JTz)

Finding out short track speed skating has to deal with inferior ice because of competitive costume party is fucking disgusting
T
twerkingslutbee • 9 points
Calling it a competitive costume party is fresh when you probably couldn’t even do a clean three turn much less a bunny hop . Devaluing an entire sport isn’t a good look
F
Fit-Percentage3406 • -9 points
Bunny hop? Even the names of tricks is a laugh
T
twerkingslutbee • 7 points
Yeah you do those when you’re three years old learning how to jump, which you probably couldn’t even do.
F
Fit-Percentage3406 • -9 points
You also start dressing yourself at 3… So everyone that age is qualified for competitive costume party
T

I’m not arguing further with a clown. The circus is that way, btw.
F
Fit-Percentage3406 • -6 points
The circus is a “sport” that had theme night

Why does ski jumping get so much air time every winter Olympics? It’s beyond boring, and the US is never good at it.
B
Beautiful_Coat_9294 • 3 points
I have been watching NBC and I have Peacock and haven’t seen any ski jumping at all
O
OmissionsOmen • 2 points
Do you guys not have any providers that allow you to choose which events you watch? In Canada the CBC app let’s you select which events and streams you can watch. Like, if you want the one with tv personalities and commentary you choose that. If you just want to see a particular event you watch that stream.
P
P1mpathinor • 2 points
Yeah we’ve got that, NBC has like three different channels showing stuff plus Peacock lets you steam every event individually. And the main NBC channel has not exactly been spending tons of time on ski jumping so I dunno what that guy is on about.
J
jujubeans8500 • 3 points
yes we have nbc peacock for that
F

Because there are other countries? Talk about being an ignorant American.
S
sfitz0076 • -2 points
I think it’s a boring old-fashioned sport. It really doesn’t matter that much to me that America isn’t good. It just seems like NBC shows a ton of it every winter Olympics.
C
crowd79 • 12 points
Why does the U.S. have to be good at particular sports to just watch and enjoy them for what they are? Biathlon is fun to watch despite us never medaling in it.
S
sfitz0076 • -2 points
Biathlon is a billion times more exciting than ski jumping. Hell curling is way more exciting. US doesn’t have to be good. But I just feel like this is an old school sport that hasn’t aged well.
S
shrek_cena • 6 points
At least for me it’s hard to get into it without a rooting interest. I’ll definitely be watching skimo tho even though we don’t have anyone competing.
B
BillsBowlBoundBaby • 1 points
I know America is a powerhouse but is it just me or are they really showing out early on overall?
S
shrek_cena • 9 points
We’re not *really* a powerhouse at the Winter games but this definitely feels better, don’t really remember where we stood in Beijing, but I remember China cursed Canada with devil magic. Curling gold wouldve been sweeeeet, haven’t cracked double-digit golds since 2002 when it was in Utah
P

It’s so weird that it’s prime time and the CBC broadcast just…ended.

We were spoiled in 2024 by ending each day with surfing in Tahiti. Having everything be over right when I get off work is… …well, I mean, it’s understandable, but I still don’t like it.
X
xivilex • 6 points
Where my surfing bros at? That was so chill.
C
Crayshack • 1 points
My roommates made me take it off the main TV because it was too chill. They don’t really like sports in general, but they suffer through me making them watch the big events. It’s easier to get them into stuff when it gets exciting, but the surfing was more of a relaxing “just relax and watch the waves…oh, one of the surfers is going.”
C
crowd79 • 8 points
We need a polar plunge held in the arctic somewhere for the next winter Olympics. Surely France has arctic island territory overseas somewhere. Kerguelen islands or something.
Y
yellowstone10 • 6 points
competitive hypothermia?
S
shrek_cena • 3 points
Kerguelen is pretty protected I think. Maybe they can lease Bouvet island from Norway

Anyone able to see the women’s moguls replay? It was up on Peacock and the nbcsports app earlier today, but seems to be gone now
S
shrek_cena • 5 points
Watching Biathlon replay on Peacock and there was someone with a Free France flag in the crowd lol. Hell yeah
S
shrek_cena • 1 points
Wow I had no idea we have *never* medaled in biathlon (other than skimo but we have no athletes there and it’s the first year)
C
CrimsonEnigma • 2 points
It’s weird. We’re not good at cross-country skiing, but we’ve gotten medals, and the other half is just guns.
