The topic of “heavy snow warning” has surged in popularity with over 10,000 searches, primarily due to significant weather events reported across multiple news outlets. Recent articles detail heavy snowfall predictions, with specific forecasts indicating that up to 7 inches of snow could impact various regions. This immediate and tangible weather threat has prompted many individuals to seek information about current conditions and preparedness.

Additionally, reports from BBC highlight severe disruptions in transportation, particularly in Scotland, where trains have been cancelled and road conditions have become treacherous due to the heavy snow. Such immediate impacts on daily life likely motivate residents to search for updates on weather forecasts and advisories to navigate travel safely.

Furthermore, NBC News’s coverage of hazardous ice, heavy snowfall, and brutal cold affecting more than half of the U.S. amplifies concerns regarding severe weather conditions. The mention of widespread dangerous conditions contributes to a heightened interest, as many individuals across the country seek to understand the potential impacts on their area and how to respond effectively.

“I’ve gotten a lot of DM’s from people claiming that by saying how much I thought about what Alex and his family did meant *(sic)* I missed my Ex-Husband and felt guilty.” My brothers in Christ, do you think a vet misses the battlefield because he wakes up screaming every night?

Blue_Butterfly_Who • 1,128 points
I was like, ‘have these people ever heard of anxiety?’ but your comparison hits it out of the park. No notes, 10/10 explanation.
A
AnFnDumbKAREN • 425 points
Once my pea-brain comprehended that vet = veteran … and not *veterinarian*, couldn’t agree more about the comparison!
F
FullyFacedMayhem • 169 points
as veteran i actually also thought veterinarian first lmao🤣🤣🤣
C
catboogers • 57 points
It was all the pics of the cats. We were primed to think about animals first!
M

Ah, hello fellow pea-brained person! I was scrolling through a post yesterday when I saw a comment from the OP asking people to stop wasting money on Reddit awards and instead donate to charity or take a vet out to lunch. The post had nothing to do with animals, so it just struck me as so random. I definitely had to stare at the words for a bit before they clicked.

Queasy_Honeydew3392 • 6 points
Same. The guy who fell in love with his wife, right?
Z
Zafjaf • 29 points
Vets probably have battled anxious pets with claws and biting.
G
Glittering_Win_9677 • 10 points
I understood what the commenter wrote, but I also saw what our veterinarian and his tech went through last Friday when they made their annual check up house call. You would think a cat that had three Gabapentin in the 15 hours before the visit would be calmer. You would be wrong. At least the second cat was semi-okay. It would have been worse if I had to get them in the carriers and drive them to the office.
O
Obi_Wentz • 8 points
especially with the details of the cats, I was in the same boat.
I
Icy_Shock_8822 • 272 points
As always, I thought this meant animal vet for long enough to enjoy the surrealism of the image and then had a quiet ‘ah’ moment 😄
A
AMortifyingOrdeal • 46 points
lol. I legit worried that it would read that way about 10s after I hit post.
I
Icy_Shock_8822 • 35 points
I’m pretty sure it’s the same thing, from my cat’s perspective 😅
G
Gifted_GardenSnail • 4 points
…maybe for your cat’s vet it’s a battlefield too…
T
tacwombat • 16 points
Might depend on some of the veterinarian’s patients.
N
nyojess • 1 points
I’ll do you one better – I thought it was about an animal vet AND I misread battlefield as the shitty vet chain “Banfield” and just went ‘yeah that tracks.’ 😭

A lot of male-centered people cannot conceive of a reality in which a woman does not define her entire self in relation to a man, and will make up theories about how her behavior shows that she’s in denial over her need to stop being an independent person and just become some dude’s appendage.
G

Or they’re abusers/scorned men themselves…

I wrote a paper in college about PTSD and how it was managed in the past. I think it was during the civil war when they called it Nostalgia, assuming they were homesick. The remedy? A good dose of combat
S
StealToadBootes • 94 points
In “the body keeps the score”, Van Der Kolk talks about a program to send soldiers with PTSD back to Afghanistan to process what they experienced there. His analysis, which I agree with, was basically “oh my god you are so stupid you are so fucking stupid”.
O
og_red_dawn • 17 points
I most definitely need to read that book. I keep seeing it pop up and my girlfriend has been suggesting it to me as well due to me still processing a shit ton of trauma from my previous marriage.
S
StealToadBootes • 10 points
Real. You might find it validating, you might also find it triggering. It’s great for explaining the mechanics of trauma. For healing from trauma, I love “no bad parts” by Richard Schwartz, and “CPTSD: from surviving to thriving” by Pete Walker. Kudos on being out of there and having a gf who’s invested in your recovery!
D
dinosanddais1 • 63 points
Right. It’s almost as if the purpose of trauma is to remind you of the thing so you *avoid* the thing (albeit in a harmful way).
B
Belainarie • 49 points
The unknown can be terrifying, and OOP had to leave everything and everyone once she realized they weren’t in her favor. Of course she mourns the *ideal,* no one expects to be in an abusive relationship where everyone took the abuser’s side.
S
SusieV1991 • 27 points
I think about my abusive ex.. but I’ll tell you if I ever saw him again I’d kick him in the nuts. They aren’t fond memories.

Mine is dead, and I’m not in the least bit sad about it.

Redditors think holding a grudge against your high school bully for a decade is fine and normal, but feeling even a little bit angry at the adult romantic partner who abused you for years = “you’re hung up on your ex.”
D
Decent_Butterfly8216 • 5 points
Definitely. But also, people trying to escape domestic violence often do miss the “nice” half of the person they’re leaving, the part that drew them in. It’s not something to be ashamed of, it’s not a reflection of the victim’s character or judgement, and it doesn’t mean it’s the wrong decision or the person wasn’t abusive. Inappropriate guilt is something a lot of people struggle with after all kinds of trauma, there are many forms of survivor’s guilt. The commenters are trolling, and like abusers, attempting to manipulate bits of truth to feel power over a stranger they know is vulnerable.
M
minahmyu • 5 points
People have weird correlations to emotions. “You’re crying about him? That *must* mean you’re missing him and guilty!” Like, why they think humans operate in a conditioned, linear way, like we all react the same way to things because we feel an emotions?
B
BigONerd • 3,094 points
This was a really good update to read. Nothing wild, just life slowly getting better, which honestly rules. Cats, steady work, therapy doing its thing, and enjoying the little stuff… This is what real healing looks like. Happy to see things feeling calmer and more solid.
B
Born_Ad8420 • 589 points
I am so relieved for her. The way her ex was acting, I was scared he was going to get even worse. Glad she’s healing and got such a cute cuddly support crew!
G
GlitterDoomsday • 375 points
He 100% would get worse if he could find her… OP was smart enough to keep her new address a mystery til the very end.
A
archiangel • 284 points
This is what pissed me off about that new Ring service they touted at superbowl where you can post a picture of your lost pet and they can scour their network to find it. What’s to prevent people from abusing it to post ‘missing people’ that are actually people trying to hide from a dangerous ex or crazy stalker? I understand it’s a surveillance service and that does suck that government agencies and the such have access to the network (disclosure we do have Ring at home ) but I’d prefer that function was not openly available to anyone and everyone to use and abuse.

They do it on Facebook – posting their personal number instead of the police department. I know, LOL Facebook, but my little city is hilarious through the eye of social media. And by hilarious, I mean “dear gods I need to move”.
T
the87walker • 23 points
In my old city reddit I was one of the people that would respond to posts that had a personal number telling them they should find the right police number. I also looked at the state missing person database and flagged when people were not listed there. I got some really annoying responses, but quite a few people were understanding and would fix it and appreciated if I flagged the state not documenting their friend was missing. The police are not perfect, but you cannot call a strange number and report a person’s location or recent sightings to some rando. It is exhausting the number of people who think someone claiming to be a person’s mom is enough information.

Thank fuck she didn’t tell him and just disappeared into the night. That combination of actions sounded wayyy too much like a family annihilator for my comfort.
D
digitydigitydoo • 86 points
I was so glad when she decided to drop the friends. They were nothing but an unnecessary link to her abuser and their refusal to accept the truth about Alex would have 100% resulted in him learning of her whereabouts.
S
stargazercmc • 200 points
The damage he did to the house – those fists were just waiting for her to say the “wrong” thing. Glad she got out.
O
OpenTeaching3822 • 102 points
that’s what made me upset about the friends that said he was never going to hurt her!! they saw the physical evidence of what he wouldve done to her months or years down the line if she’d stayed and still tried to say she was overreacting

Right? He was still in the process of escalating. So no, he hadn’t hit her…yet.
S
SpectralFawn • 106 points
Losing his job forced him to take a step back. That was the real consequence he experienced. People like him like to escalate until it backfires on them. Luckily, his actions backfired sooner than expected so he didn’t cause any more damage to the OP.

I was 980 miles (I counted) away when I served my ex, and I think the deputy did it at the front door. The front door was up a slope and at the top of some steps, so it was like the deputy was on a little stage. My ex is pathologically afraid of what other people might think. Being served so high up where anyone could see pointed out to him the potential backfire: the long, public road that he’d have to walk if he fought anything. It wouldn’t have been public, not really, but he would have seen it that way. We both held our heads high and didn’t make any trouble. He still fucking emails me, but that’s his problem, not mine. Backfire and the fear of it = peace for the other side.

Congrats on your great escape! I hope your ex has nightmares of being served in front of a huge crowd, popcorn and all.

I was married to a man like Alex. At first, things started just the way they did with Alex – my husband demanding that I check in with him every hour on the hour when we weren’t together (even when I was at work) and wanting an itinerary of my future whereabouts. Without going into detail….things got a LOT worse. I’m divorced and happy now with an amazing man who is the love of my life but I wish I wouldn’t have ignored the early signs of abuse with my ex-husband. I’m glad the OOP didn’t ignore those signs and was able to escape before all hell broke loose.

I’m a real estate broker and had a rental client I was working with. One night, her boyfriend called me to inquire if I was with his gf on showings that day after work. Without thinking, I said yes. He then asked for addresses of places we saw and my spidey sense went off. Texted her to call me asap, then told him to talk to her as my license requires client confidentiality. When I spoke with her, she told me he was controlling and she was breaking up with him as soon as she moved. They lived separately in the same building and she didn’t want to deal with it while she was still there. He tracked her phone, watched the lobby camera all the time to see if she left. I guess all the door staff grey rocked him when he asked them about her.
B
Bama_Peach • 36 points
I think that with a lot of people, their desire to be helpful overrides that nagging feeling that tells them that something is off. Good on you for going with your gut and protecting your client!

Yea. Alex wasn’t “that bad” yet, but OOP was smart to recognize the direction it was headed.
