It’s even worse. If given clemency, she might give some real or false information in a hearing, but will also still lie for Trump and not be punished at all by Trumps DOJ, kind of like how she is already having her prison sentence made into a joke under Trump.

At this point I don’t think it really matters what they do. They’ve gone to such extreme lengths to cover up Trump’s connection with epstein that the circumstantial evidence already has him convicted in the court of public opinion. If Maxwell testifies that he participated in illicit sexual activity, people will say that she played Trump and the truth is finally out in the open. If she says Trump and Clinton did nothing wrong, democrats will tear her apart in her senate hearing and the public will believe Trump bought her silence.

Unironically this is the reason why child sexual abusers lean more heavily right. That is the political view that idealizes “purity” as a trait in sexual “partner”. They play up the importance of virginity and submissiveness. It is the political view that constantly insults college age women as sluts, claims how women lie, and pushed BS ideas of women who have had sex being “loose”. You have right wing “man-o-sphere” talking about female “peak fertility” telling men increasingly lower ages for when a woman is not able to have a child. Ultimately this leads to children as their only demographic that fits their standards. They are generally more submissive to adults by nature, after on set of menstruation they have a longer expectation of fertility than adult women, and are not likely to have been sexually active so have that desired “purity”. On the male victim side, the right it is the side that almost engrains into teens that they should want to have sex with older women. They minimize any idea of abuser often with term like “lucky kid”. Really they only get “outraged” when it is a male victim with male perpetrator. You have individuals on the right pushing the “acceptable age” intentionally lower when they excuse abuse of even older teenage victims. Or excusing remarks about underaged girls as “guy talk.”

Let’s not forget their support of school shootings and anti-vaxxing MAGA is anti-children in every conceivable way.

They all seem to live in a different reality from the rest of us.

I think it’s even starting to seep into MAGA world. I live in coastal Louisiana, a DEEP red area where Leon Gary Plauché is basically a folk hero for shooting his son’s kidnapper and rapist in the face and used to see wannabe tough guy shirts saying stuff like “Dead pedophiles don’t reoffended” and “50¢ cure for pedophiles” under a picture of a bullet. I haven’t seen a shirt like that in a good while now, since Ted Cruz made the “We need to agree to stop attacking pedophiles” comment now that I think of it. They may not be bucking their support of MAGA, but I think even they know they can’t beat the allegations.

F\*\*\*in wild to me that they would rather change their stance on the punishment for pedophiles than their alignment with MAGA. I understand that cult behavior is looney…but the extent of such is truly baffling for me to understand. Like is the attachment to their MAGA identity a form of addiction or something? Why is it so strong? If they’re pulling back on the punishment for pedophiles stance, then they’re aware on some level of what they’re doing; so ignorance isn’t the total excuse.

Much of MAGA is beyond normal politics now. Look to the actions of the most fervent supporters of authoritarians throughout history. Many will commit any act rather than go against the group. Humans are much weaker than we like to admit.

My only logical explanation for it is that it’s probably easier to imagine executing a faceless pedophile you don’t know than it is to do the same to the figurehead of a political movement whose only true values are complete fealty and political expediency that you’ve slowly let grow into your entire personality. It’s basically a cult at this point.

If anyone was going to be given immunity from prosecution, I’d prefer it be someone like Clinton, not because I like Clinton, but because I’m sure any individual customer has much less involvement in the whole scheme than people like Maxwell do. Letting low-level offenders avoid prosecution to catch the ringleaders is a standard prosecutorial tactic. It’s pretty gross when it potentially involves letting someone off for child rape, but if that’s what it takes to prosecute more people, then I’m for it.

Make’s the right’s whole crusade against the pedophile cabal completely pointless when their side is *actively* protecting the *actual* pedophile cabal. Q was probably Bannon all along. Accuse the left of doing everything Trump and his goons were actually doing while simultaneously polarizing politics so deeply that, when it’s all said and done, their army of incel basement dwellers will instead *defend* the pedophiles. She would more than likely get clemency from any future charges related to these crimes, which would probably extend to lying to Congress…. Basically “give me the ability to lie without the fear of criminal charges and I will lie for you!”

Are known liars allowed to give testimony in court? How does that work? Is the jury instructed to believe someone as if they never lied? Because I don’t trust liars after just one lie. There’s no way a liar can convince me the sky is blue after I know they’re a liar. That’s why we have the word, to call them untrustworthy.

No under clemency, she can plead the fifth, with a pardon she can not. So they will grant her clemency and it all just goes away.

What she doesn’t understand is that getting a pardon won’t protect her from perjury. That would be a new crime.
