The recent surge in search interest around Savannah Guthrie is primarily linked to the troubling news regarding her mother, Nancy Guthrie. Reports indicate that Nancy Guthrie has likely been abducted from her home in Arizona, prompting a police investigation into her disappearance. The serious nature of this situation has garnered significant attention, leading to increased queries about both Nancy’s case and Savannah.

In addition to the abduction news, Savannah Guthrie has publicly addressed her mother’s situation, discussing a selfless act that her mother performed. The combination of a family crisis and the attention from a well-known public figure like Savannah instigates a sense of urgency and concern among viewers.

Furthermore, various media outlets, including NBC News and TODAY.com, have provided extensive coverage of the unfolding investigation, contributing to the high search volume. “The scene at the house also has some concerns for us,” the sheriff said, without providing further details. This is also concerning and being reported by CNN.

I just hope it’s not another situation like Rob Reiner’s murder. Hopefully she just fell, banged her head, and wandered away which is what happened to my cousin after she fell down the stairs and hit her head. It was a terrifying few hours for her husband but she was found safe with a minor laceration on her head and a concussion which I hope will be the same outcome here even though it’s a long shot.
H
h00dies • 43 points
Sounds like she was not mobile enough to wander off too far on her own 🙁
R
Routine_Team_3542 • 37 points
She couldn’t walk far. Sheriff said there is no way she wandered off.
A
AmericanSteel412 • 10 points
That’s a shame. I just hope they find out what happened and catch whoever is involved so her family has some closure.

Someone mentioned that relatives dropped her off at her house Saturday night and she didn’t go to church the next morning and relatives went back to house and started looking by lunch Sunday. Also it is said that she had a caregiver because of her inability to walk and since the authorities are saying no danger to the community then they might know who has harmed mom. Maybe the caregiver?
H
HistoricalWalrus5767 • 6 points
Where is the caregiver?
T
thepandarocks • 38 points
That means a struggle and LOTS of blood. I am pretty confident 💔 They brought homicide in immediately. Really sad. Probably a home invasion. Horrible.

> Nanos said search and rescue teams have been out at Nancy Gutherie’s home, along with homicide teams and detectives. > Nancy Guthrie is described as having some physical ailments, but does not have cognitive issues, her family said, according to the sheriff. I thought it might have been a dementia thing, but it seems like something genuinely sinister might be going on

Other articles are saying the homicide team was called because of concerning things seen inside her house. Does not sound good.
N
NJrose20 • 22 points
She may have hit her head and wandered off in confusion.
H
hawksnest_prez • 42 points
That’s the best case sadly
R
Routine_Team_3542 • 16 points
Absolutely not. She cannot walk far.
G
GreenEggs-12 • 3 points
Doesn’t sound like she was ready on her feet judging by the reactions of the police
H
Hot-Loquat-7109 • 6 points
She would of been found then.
R
Routine_Team_3542 • 10 points
It isn’t. Sheriff just said she is sharp as a tack mentally.

Ever since my dad died, I worry about my mom a lot. I worry she’s going to have a stroke or heart attack and die before I even know something is wrong. I worry she’s going to call me to say she has cancer. I worry she’s going to start experiencing cognitive decline. I worry about all the ways I might lose her. What I don’t worry about is her being violently abducted. At her age, it just doesn’t cross my mind as something to worry about. So I can’t imagine how hard it is to know that your mother is missing and the police think they need to call in a homicide squad to help find her. I’ll be thinking of Savannah and all the family and friends who are impacted by this today.

I have this fear and several times have gone to her condo if she doesn’t answer the phone. But agree, never worried about a crime. I hope they find her safe and soon

After my 84 year old mother’s husband died, my sister and I lived an hour away, but we put cameras all over her house. We used Blink cameras from Amazon. They were cheap, super easy, and we could talk to her through them. I’ve since bought a bigger house and brought her to live with me. But for anyone with elderly parents, look onto something like this. It will give you a lot of peace of mind. If, for some reason, she didn’t get to the phone in time, we could just check the cameras from our phone in an instant.
H
Heart_robot • 6 points
Yeah, I spy on her with Alexa and can see her phone location. She had two friends just go to sleep and never wake up so it’s unlocked a fear in me. I only live a km from her but still not great to literally run over in a panic.
M
Mudfish2657 • 1 points
That’s really the best way to go, but damn hard on family no matter how it happens.
C
curiouslmr • 1 points
This is good advice. We recently did cameras inside my mom’s house. We wanted to honor her privacy and agreed to only check them if we can’t get ahold of her or get any alerts from her apple watch!
R
rasta-ragamuffin • 1 points
That’s a great idea!
M
Mr_IT • 4 points
This is the exactly me, too. My father died in 2024 and now I’m going to worry about this other than the normal issue that could happen to her. Just terrible.
M
Mudfish2657 • 3 points
Wow, you could be me 10 years ago. Everything you wrote hit home. My mom was a tough old bird (she would NOT approve of that description) and died at 90. All I can tell you is don’t worry so much. Just enjoy every single moment. But yes, as awful as losing her was, I simply can’t begin to imagine knowing your mother is missing and the victim of a crime, maybe suffering, certainly terrified. Just an awful, awful thing to happen. Makes my heart hurt.
P
Particular-Count3003 • 1 points
I know this is off topic but as it relates to you worrying about your mom, I have a casa smart indoor camera at my mom’s house and I check on her when she doesn’t answer the phone. I try to call once a day so if she doesn’t answer I check for activity on the camera.

Nanos said search and rescue teams have been out at Nancy Gutherie’s home, along with homicide teams and detectives. Foul play has not been ruled out at this time.
R
RalphTheDog • 24 points
It sounds like a home invasion and kidnapping to me. If some nut is trying to extort Savannah, this will be a really ugly news story.
R
Radiant_Respect5162 • 161 points
Dark times. Anyone goes missing and the people suspect the federal government.
P
peonies_envy • 101 points
Because it makes sense to do so
M
Mr_IT • 18 points
It’s a valid thought.
O
Ok_Farm_6706 • 36 points
If homicide team was called out that means they are wanting to preserve evidence due to a scene at the home like a large amount of blood present, broken furniture, forced entry, etc. Who lived there with her?
T
Treesbentwithsnow • 2 points
If she can’t walk, people say she has a caregiver that lives there.
T
thepandarocks • 4 points
There was blood and signs of a struggle for sure 💔 They called in homicide immediately.
O
Octavia9 • -4 points
They could be just covering their bases especially because it’s a high profile case.
R
Routine_Team_3542 • 2 points
Not true. She cannot have ‘wandered off on foot.
E
Easy-Environment-784 • 319 points
Have they checked with Immigration?
W

My thoughts too. Guthrie did grill Trump back in 2020. They guy holds grudges longer than he can hold his shit

Humans aren’t illegal
A

But there status of being here is illegal.
Y
Yeahbabs • 1 points
“But there status of being here is illegal.” The (obviously unintended) irony of your statement is that every immigrant I know who has worked hard to learn English knows the difference between there, their, and they’re. And then we have morons like you.
D
Dependent-Let-9263 • -52 points
Why is there a criminal illegal they’re looking for in the area?
I
imbeingsirius • 9 points
Turns out they’ll take anyone
C
ChrisCinema • 8 points
This is absolutely terrible. Missing person’s cases don’t generally end well, but we can only hope for a miracle.
K
karmagrl777 • 6 points
If it’s a home invasion as some are speculating, why are they taking her body and why are the police saying no threat to the community?
C
cubedtothex • 26 points
This was an abduction, but they are afraid to say it. There are suspicious details about the home they are not sharing (annoying but is standard procedure).
