The keyword “pro bowl 2026” has seen a surge in search interest, reaching over 100,000 searches recently. This increase can be attributed to the announcement of the finalized rosters for the AFC and NFC teams, as reported by Bleacher Report. The revealed lineups have generated excitement among fans, fueling their search for information on the participating players and team compositions.

Additionally, the 2026 NFL Pro Bowl will feature a unique format, involving a flag football game between the two conferences. This shift from the traditional tackle format is likely drawing attention as fans are curious about how this will change the Pro Bowl experience and the implications for team strategies and player performances.

As a result of these developments, there is a heightened interest in the Pro Bowl, reflecting fans’ eagerness to engage with the upcoming event and to learn more about the players who will take part in this new format. The combination of roster announcements and a novel game style has effectively captured the attention of the NFL audience.

>this makes me question your whole family, who the fuck gets married during football season? This makes me question whether I have lived an authentic American experience. It is just not a concern that has ever come up, even for friends and family getting married during various sports season and events.
S
SallyAmazeballs • 2,872 points
Right? Football seasons starts in like August with preseason games and goes until January/February. Weddings can’t happen for half the year? Dumb.
S
sbballc11 • 754 points
Exactly. And even if you tried to make it work, Monday, Thursday, and Sunday are out of the question. Saturday (and the occasional Friday) if you include college football.
G
GandalffladnaG • 516 points
And then add people need time to travel if they’re not all local, so the grumbling continues. And then, once football is over it’s basketball season, etc., so no one can ever get married unless it’s 10 minutes at the courthouse or a sports bar between games. I get it if you’re literally on the team or support staff you are required to be there, but everyone else can just fuck off and go to the damned wedding. You can record it, the NFL isn’t going to jam a whole saguaro up your anus just because you recorded without their expressed written permission.

The NFL has so many anti-consumer policies. It’s insane they still have customers. I had the craziest call back at DirecTv. This lady gets on whispering like she’s in a hostage situation – her husband is down in the basement audibly screaming at a 2nd agent. He’s mad they can’t watch the game. They *planned their pregnancy* around the season. She’s hushing her newborn, while husband rages out in the man cave. And shes asking politely to just turn the game on please. Tears in her voice. Please? They has done everything right. They had the expensive NFL Sunday ticket package ($480 today, $300 back then), everything should work. But the NFL has a “Black Out” policy… You see if you live close enough to the stadium, and they don’t sell enough live, in-person seats, they *black out* the game from customers they feel could have made the trip in person. Anyone they consider within driving range…. … that’s real policy. Imagine trying to explain that to this customer. I was making like 50 cents above minimum wage to be a therapist to victims of the very thing they seek joy from. What a weird capitalist hellscape nightmare world. Non refundable, of course. Of course.
Q
QueenMAb82 • 260 points
I am having serious “what the absolute value of fuck?” reactions to this policy.
T
TheSkiGeek • 70 points
So… the issue is that the NFL licenses the exclusive rights to broadcast the home games live separately from everything else. Those rights are currently with CBS and Fox, who show the games on their local stations in each city. Being (almost) the only (legally sanctioned) way to watch your local team live is why those rights are so valuable. CBS and Fox pay a shit-ton of money for that. The NFL makes more money (or at least thinks they will make more money) keeping those rights exclusive, but in a way that local people can watch the game for free over the air or with basic cable rather than having to buy a satellite TV package. Some sports teams used to even ‘black out’ the *local* broadcast if the game didn’t sell enough tickets! I don’t think any sports leagues still do that, though, it was wildly unpopular. Edit: I was misreading their story, this must have been back when the NFL was still doing local blackouts like that. I don’t think they do that anymore. Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NFL_television_blackout_policies — policy was discontinued in 2015, I didn’t realize they were still doing it so recently. I think the blackouts got pretty infrequent after the 90s, and they realized there was basically no point and it just pissed people off who weren’t practically going to pay full ticket prices.

That woman should have been on the phone with the domestic violence hotline 😬
T
tachibanakanade • 22 points
I know this may have been a joke (I doubt it, but some people would do that), but domestic violence rates really do go up because of Football and because of “inconveniences” like that. It’s sad.
B
Big-University-1132 • 29 points
Oh yes the Black Out policy is crazy. Luckily for my family members who care, the Steelers always sell plenty of seats, even when they’re not so good lol That being said, that lady’s husband sounds like a nightmare. I’d be worried about anger issues bc the fact that he can’t control his emotions enough to avoid scaring his infant child and wife makes me worry about what else he might do while raging. Like I get that it’s frustrating, but dude, get some therapy. Do some meditation. Learn how to effectively and safely manage your emotions. You’re scaring your family and setting a bad example for your kid
R
Raventakingnotes • 45 points
I left and came back to this, its so insane, why the hell would they even sell the package ahead of time then, what about people who arent able and unable to go to a stadium, is there a warning given when the package is sold that this may happen? This seems like it would be violating some consumer laws somehow

My best friend works closely with one of the NFL teams as support staff and even he figured out how to make it to his brother’s wedding during football season! This fandom is ridiculous

My dad is the kind of guy who would get down on his hands and knees, slamming his hands on the floor and yelling during games. He’s the kind of guy who gets kind of sullen and depressed when the packers lose. He’s the kind of guy who works 50 hours a week and then gives tours at Lambeau on the weekend, not because he needs the money but because he loves talking about the packers to anyone who will listen. Also, it’s Wisconsin, we’re born and bred to be diehard packers fans. He would have recorded the game and watched it later.

I was in Green Bay in the 70s and the local religious community changed the prescribed time of a service so that everyone would have time to go see the Packers. On TV. Playing an exhibition game. That was a strange summer.

I guess the church I grew up in was less devout (to the Packers). We had the person who handled the sound board during the service also watching the game and they would announce updates in the score

Also, I’m a massive fan of the broncos, but I don’t know that most of us would have assumed that we would still have been in it as of last week’s game. Like, I wouldn’t have planned my whole wedding date on the off chance that they were still playing 3 weeks into January.
B
blissfully_happy • 214 points
Aren’t weddings planned months, to a year, in advance? Who thinks about football schedules when planning their wedding? How would you even know? Like, “oh, looks like super important game is scheduled for that same day. What if [specific team] is in that game?” Like… what?!?
C
calmforgivingsilk • 46 points
People in the south do. More for college football. I lived in Alabama and Georgia and both had fans that would absolutely schedule around football
S
SpeakerDelicious6315 • 24 points
That’s because here in the South football is its own religion.

Tbf I’m not American, but when OP said that the bride said they wouldn’t have the game on during the reception, like it was some outrageous decision, I was like “?? Duh? It’s a wedding not a pub crawl” but then she continued like it was just a completely sane thing to say and I was SO confused.
M
Mrfish31 • 324 points
I know! Like >My daughter and a few other family members were really looking forward to that as a way to get through the night The fuck do you mean you need a football match to “get through” a wedding night?
B
blissfully_happy • 242 points
No one on this family likes the bride. Like, at all. I wouldn’t want any of these people at my wedding.
B
Bundt-lover • 68 points
Personally, if I were the bride, I’d be ready to elope and move to the next continent. And only assuming the groom was on the same page. Any pushback like “Well, we COULD put a TV in the hallway,” and I’d just hand the ring back. I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life catering to these absolutely insufferable people. The poor SIL. Not to mention, how shitty is this family that they’re basically telling the brother that his WEDDING isn’t important to them? Honestly they can all get in the bin (as the British would say).
D
da_innernette • 45 points
Weird they’re blaming the bride. OP says the brother (groom) doesn’t care about football either. It was his decision as well to have a wedding “DuRiNg FoOtBaLl SeAsOn” or whatever. They clearly just hate her. Poor gal.
P
PoopMountainRange • 58 points
I am American, and that part was wild to me. I can’t even fathom the idea of asking someone to play a football game during their reception.
Q
QueenofUncreativity • 121 points
The amount of comments that agreed with her as well lol.
R

D

Ohhhhhh ok that makes sense. I felt like I was in the twilight zone reading the responses to that part lol
B
blissfully_happy • 84 points
Yeah, this is fucking wild. I wouldn’t expect the game on, either? Like… stay tf off your phones and watch it on delay? Unbelievable to me that people would prioritize a game over someone celebrating their marriage, what the fuck. I can kinda see why our country is failing, I’ll be honest.
J
januarysdaughter • 88 points
My cousin and his wife got married during a big rivalry game and ended up having the game playing during their reception in the hallway outside the reception hall itself. The room never felt empty though, because my family isn’t a bunch of monsters who put sportsball over their loved one.
R
RaxaHuracan • 947 points
Was at a wedding last year during the World Series and half the guests (including groom and best man) were from LA and huge Dodgers fans. Not a single person spent any time watching the game instead of being present at the wedding. Since the OOP said that several of her family members didn’t like the bride, I’d guess that the football game was only an issue because nobody gave enough of a shit to prioritize the wedding
E
eirenii • 198 points
My wedding (uk) was last year. I hadn’t realised that it coincided with women’s football (soccer) Euro final and the vast majority of our friends aren’t into sports, so i was a little surprised when a couple guests excitedly told me “we won!” during the reception. I didn’t mind much, the event was the whole day and everyone was fully present for the important bits. I thought it was actually kinda neat that women’s football was getting enough attention to be a distraction lol, that’s a very recent phenomenon.
D
Defiant_Junketer • 73 points
I was flying back from Ireland. The flight was delayed and people were watching it on their phones. I was surprised that as many Irish people were supporting the Lionesses as British! The women’s game really has become important. (And I have friends who are arsenal supporters who bring their kids to the ladies’ games, because they say the fan atmosphere is better and it’s not all wealthy finance bros and bad language.) Great to see it!

foxscribbles • 441 points
The idea that the bride should show the game during her wedding reception was insane. If you think showing a sports game during a wedding reception is a logical or normal ask, you need help. You’re not a fan at that point. You’re an addict who is making somebody else’s wedding about your need for your fix. Yeah. No shit the bride wasn’t going to dedicate three hours of her wedding day to your sports obsession.
L
LittleMsSavoirFaire • 221 points
I’m not really a fan of weddings, but if you care enough to throw one, I care enough to show up. Watching football on your phone is saying in the clearest possible terms, “I don’t care about you”
D
deathtooriginality • 143 points
Yeah, I feel like I read two posts in one. First one about a struggling teenager. And then a second absolutely insane one how the family is upset that the couple aren’t going to have a tv with a football game at their reception. I’m baffled at all the supporting comments OP got.
R
RecordOfTheEnd • 196 points
If you live in certain parts of the country, you will not get people coming to the wedding if a football or basketball game (college and pro) is going on. In fact, I know of the daughter of some friends who got a reception center for like 1/3 the normal price because it was during the local rivalry game between two of the local colleges (UNC v Duke basketball). A lot of people she wanted there said no unless she had the game going. She didn’t really want that. But her husband convinced her to set up a sports bar in a room to the side that people could go and watch while having a drink. They ended up kind scheduling the major events around the game (cake cutting, first dance, etc). And the grooms cake was half UNC half Duke. And once the game was over the party continued on as normal. LA isn’t like the South. The South is Guns, God, and [insert college team]
I
itsthedurf • 79 points
>and [insert college team] I’m from a small town in South GA. I know someone (bride and groom went to Georgia) who scheduled their wedding before finding out that it was the weekend of the GA/FL game. They ended up having a TV off to the side of the reception. (People in my hometown talked about the date of the wedding like it was a tragedy. Poor “bride,” she had no idea; what rotten luck.)

Hanging out with this kind of people sounds miserable. My parents love Formula 1 and Max Verstappen and will not stop by if it’s a race or training. However for big events like my birthday or if I would ever get married they will just tape it and watch it later. They won’t demand that I put on the race at my house during my birthdays and be glued to the screen. Who prioritizes sport over family or friends??? That’s crazy to me.
