Now we’ll have the 2 toughest guys in history playing in the final. I think this favors Alcaraz. It still won’t be easy, but after pulling through against Zverev, he can do anything.

Djok will walk through him

I am not a Novak fan on accord of his attitude shirt ripping etc, acting sick etc, but this is something else. Esp at this stage of his career.
K

This would be like Messi World Cup winning moment If djokovic wins that 25th GS.
S

Olympic Gold was that moment
O
OtherwiseGap2490 • 4 points
Messi won the WC at 35 and his international record was dismal before that. Nothing of that sort here
N
nick12233 • 10 points
Nah. That was him winning Olympic gold in 2024. Nothing is toping that!

Do you think in a way Carlitos would’ve preferred to play Sinner in final instead of Novak?
C

Good match. Still, djokovic incredibly lucky but legendary player to win
R
roustabouts2021 • 5 points
The least gracious losers: “They were lucky.” “I played terribly.” “I was playing hurt.”
C
Clappingdoesnothing • 4 points
Was djokovic not lucky in qf? I don’t think that’s controversial. I have no hat in the court, just think musetti as extremely cursed with the injury bug
R
roustabouts2021 • 4 points
It is only my opinion. I am not questioning your observation. We are all well aware of the circumstances surrounding these kinds of matches. Despite this, one needn’t diminish the accomplishments of others, especially those as hard-earned and well deserved as today’s victory was.

It actually reminds me of Roger Federer vs rising star Chung Hyeon in the 2018 Australian Open Semi-Final, where Hyeon retired hurt. Hyeon, en route to the semis, had defeated Medvedev, Zverev and even a prime Novak. Roger was indeed lucky in that tournament.

Fair point.

Another interesting fact: Sinner served 26 aces, which is a new career-high for him in a single match. Novak simply too good for him tonight!

Now Alcaraz has to play like today and Novak has to play like today on Sunday, for Novak to win the championship.🏆

Report: please ask that question again before the final. We want Gold medal Djoko in the final.

Honestly would rather Novak face Carlos than any of the other semi finalists. Carlos’s serve isn’t nearly on Sinner or Zverev’s level + he played an even longer 5 setter + Novak matches up decently against him + Novak has the mental advantage against him
C
ConArtist98 • 2 points
Carlos’ serve was on point pre-cramping and I don’t know about the mental advantage, but let’s see I guess.
U
Unfair-Rush-2031 • 3 points
valid on the serve stuff, but Alcaraz is 22. Novak is 38. Carlos could have played 24 hours straight in the semi-final and still be in better physical ability than Novak for the final.
W
Wise_Guitar2059 • 4 points
Novak has to bring his A game again.
K

Novak beat him last year here as well. I fully believe in Novak now

Time for Djokovic to avenge those Wimbledon finals losses to Carlos

People were complaining about this year’s Australian Open and then were treated to these back to back classics. And we still have the Final ahead.
M

I watched so much mediocre tennis over the last two weeks, and then couldn’t watch today’s matches due to work, the world can be so cruel sometimes.
B
bigtice • 1 points
Ouch, sorry friend. I made an excuse for work once I saw Alcaraz was cramping just to see where it was going and then it just snowballed from there through the next match — they wouldn’t allow me to sleep.

I love all you guys. I’ve put so much emotional energy into supporting djokovic this whole tournament, as I struggle with my own aging delema, about to turn 36, still feeling okay but knowing time is running out, old age is around the corner. I’m so glad Nole pulled through. Win or lose in the final, I’m happy
T
TheFast-R-Nay • 1 points
Try about to turn 60!! You’re still young! (But appreciate every age you get to…because it goes by quickly! I’m trying to do the same. Stay fit. Stay active. People who are 80, wish they were only 60 again!)

We are still young. I’m 36.

34 and in the best shape of my life. Tennis is a lifelong sport!
G

Yeah. I’m 37. We are young. Navigating “getting old” is different in pro sports compared to the general population.

I’m nearly 62 and need to pee a lot.
