That doesn’t matter much since you would get 2 energy on it anyways by the time you could first get A-Ninetails online if you go 2nd. If you go first then you would not want to ramp with A-Vulpix on turn 3 and risk it getting KO’d turn 4.

It’s solid. 80 damage isn’t especially impressive though and a lot of the top decks really don’t mind the effect all that much. You can always just switch out if needed. Now this will really shine if an energy hungry deck appears atop the metagame but right now it’s probably just ‘fine’.

Sure if you can afford the energy cost to retreat. Being able to pull something out with Sabrina (like a Mega) and then just widdle it away at 80 damage while it can’t do anything is super strong. Obviously there is counter play with stuff like Leaf, but I think it has potential to be really good.

Yeah I think people are forgetting this thing is going to be perfectly with Greninja which is already one of the best cards in the game. Snipe something on the bench, Cyrus then in and permanently lock them with ninetales. Will genuinely just be an auto win in some cases on top of consistently being very strong even without Greninja

i think i’ll use it with Araquanid and its trainer tho. is 1 stage less and you don’t need to have the damage on it.

I’m guessing they thought of this too, though, which is why this set also has a few good UBs and Peculiar Plaza. Ninetales can’t do much against these decks since they can maneuver extremely well, and between Lusamine and Flame Patch I think Blacephalon decks might do surprisingly well.

A9 + Greninja + Cyrus could be a problem. It would be an instant win against an opposing mega that doesn’t have enough energy to retreat

Greninja is still at an advantage, because they just run their deck as it is but you have to take a deck slot (and draw it) in order to counter it on only ONE pokemon. There is a chance this ends up not being used just like Squirt Bottle during fire meta

I’m collecting it. You’re absolutely right, it will SUCK this set, but it looks like a cool card with genuine potential. 140 to **any** opposing Pokemon is a lot, and it already has Lyra for retreat support. I’m hoping it’ll be a Whimsicott or Dragonite situation where it’s terrible in the set it’s released in, but it gets good support the next set and ends up being at least a moderately good deck.

If you can pull off a Lyra and retreat then you can 2 shot basically a lot of megas and instantly win… But you need 4 fighting energy and a Lyra and then a retreat… It’ll be very tough for sure :/
