This makes me sad.

Same. Very sad. Not only did he bring good energy, he brought good skills. Plus his crab walk. I may be wrong, but I think we’ll regret this one.

I completely agree.

This offseason has felt like surrender.

Career .247/.313/.401 hitter with a career .714 OPS. Below average in every advanced metric at the plate. Ya’ll really got blinded by a good 1/4 season he had with us. Yeah, he had a career year in 2025 pretty much. There’s no reason to expect that that’s suddenly who he is going to be.
M
MikeShannonThaGawd • 16 points
And yet he’d be our best defensive and offensive outfielder. It’s just a two year deal and “amount not disclosed” usually means it’s super cheap because the agent doesn’t want the numbers out for his shitty deal. If they held off because there’s a bigger move to come fine. If they held off and this is it I just can’t see the scenario where this team is competing in October.

CuckooClockInHell • 13 points
$10m a year. This seems like we might regret missing out on him. Probably before Independence Day.
D
Dazzling-Bear3942 • 3 points
If he had to take a “shitty deal” he may not be as good as some here think he is. He was great at times for us and really brought some good energy but let’s not pay for what he did but what he can do. Plus where does he play here? Crawford is ready.

Yea I know a bunch of folks here and other boards when the trade was made said there was no way he could sustain his BABIP. But he did for a couple months. Fun guy but yea due to regress. Especially in that park.
T
TheGreatDudebino • 5 points
Yeah, it’s like one of the worst places for his bat profile.
E

You’re damn right we did! What else do we have to hold on to!
B
bunkermatt • 3 points
We had the 2nd best record last year, and one win from the best. You’re acting like the team was so horrible that all we had was a career 2 months from Bader as a bright spot.
E
EddieLobster • 3 points
It’s not a comment on last year. Not only have we not really improved besides the bullpen, we’ve gotten older and the competition got better.

Thank you for being real

Sometimes finding a good fit means as much as the numbers. He seemed to fit in well with the vibe. That can make a big difference.
S

You took the words outa my head. This team is elevated by how well everyone gets along. He was a big vibe contributor on top of his skill. Gonna miss him.

Feel like level of regret will really depend on the price.
W

We got robbed by him getting injured in the post season. I know it was a first round exit, but a couple things go our way and that whole playoff picture could look way different

Forced youth movement. Go Crawford. Go Painter. Go Miller. I guess
Y
Yourlifeisworth • 37 points
I’m ok with the youth movement honestly. This team’s core continues to age, and adding fringe players in their 30s on 1 year deals over the last few years hasn’t really been working. If this team has any hope of avoiding repeating the dark ages of the 2010s we need to start finding some young talent now.
R
Ruscidero • 4 points
Me too — at some point you’ve got to find out what you’ve got. I’ve always felt like the Phillies wait too long to bring prospects up.
Y
Yourlifeisworth • 3 points
Exactly, agreed. Or we trade those prospects as soon as they struggle (i.e. Mick Abel). And for the record, I’m not anti-Mick Abel trade, thats just the most recent example I could think of.
I
Illustrious-Long5154 • 4 points
No problems with the youth movement. I think people mistakenly thought this had something to do with Crawford. It doesn’t. Garcia is garbage. Marsh is a platoon player. Signing Bader wouldn’t have hurt Crawford at all. This OF is unacceptable for a contender, and Crawford has nothing to do with it.
Y
Yourlifeisworth • 1 points
No argument at all, I would’ve liked to see Bader back as a platoon/bench player, to fill in full time if Crawford is struggling/gets hurt. The reality is he still wants to be a full time starter, and it looks like he was given starter money. Good for him.

He was a crowd pleaser in Philly.
U
Used-Dependent-5653 • 65 points
He was never coming back when we got Garcia and Crawford was basically named center fielder Not really shocking
T
TonyBrooks40 • 30 points
Garcia batted .227 last year, and lets be real, we have high hopes for Crawford, but he’s never played at this level. Doesn’t exactly scream deep playoff run.
C
chuid17 • 7 points
Every time someone says’ “but Crawford hasn’t played at this level,” he goes on to hit .300 at that level. So idc personally about ‘lazyboy-scout-takes’
_
_token_black • 11 points
That a playoff team doesn’t have a plan B if Crawford doesn’t hit should be worrying
C

Plenty of time before the trade deadline.
U

Well no rookie has ever played at the mlb before they get called up 🤷‍♂️ gotta see what you have

Doomed to a bottom 5 outfield I guess.

both those players are below average outfielders

Garcia is better than Nick and we don’t actually know wha Crawford will be
M

nick is the worst outfielder that doesn’t say much.

Damn, I held on to a sliver of hope he may come back, but alas. Enjoyed his time here as a Phillie, wishing him success in San Fran.

This offseason was pretty much a big disappointment. True to the tradition of being a Phillies fan.
