She’s the only one with the experience and the will to get rid of the dead wood and the resulting logjams. I will assume that you are referring to the group that is actively terrorizing MN right now: abolish ‘em, hold every single perpetrator accountable to the fullest extent of the law, and work towards sensible, humane, immigration reform. Check my comment history from yesterday for more. What gets me is that we already had agencies that handled what ICE is allegedly targeting: ATF, DEA, FBI, etc.

It was a tangible way to show that I did not approve of the way that the Democratic party was treating genocide. I called, I protested, I did everything I could, because I knew that if the Palestinian genocide was normalized, it would be easy to normalize here. I was reminded of this quote from MLK Jr. this past week about Vietnam, which rings true today still: “I knew that I could never again raise my voice against the violence of the oppressed in the ghettos without having first spoken clearly to the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today — my own government.. How does that impact local government you ask? It’s easy. What are we going to do to prepare for ICE? What are we going to do in the face of rising fascism? How are we going to keep our neighbors safe when the economy tanks, shit hits the fan? I feel like an alarmist, but, y’know. So many of us now see what’s coming down the line after what’s happened in Minneapolis. Chicago. Memphis. Charlotte. Los Angeles. That requires having a plan, an honest to god plan, how we can support ourselves when the Federal Government’s only plan is to steal wealth from everyone under the sun and commit war crimes against anyone who stands in their way. That starts today. That starts here. Right now. We can talk about zoning and density and the right way to navigate our budget. We can talk about parks and schools. But we’re facing an incredibly serious moment that we cannot, and should not ignore. The one thing I’ve been waiting for from a lot of like groups and surveys is: “How are we going to navigate around ICE? How are we going to rebuild when the federal government doesn’t want to foot the bill? How are we going to take care of our schools when the federal government is defunding them?” It cannot, and should not be, business as usual going forward.
