The topic “Kings vs. Cavaliers” is trending due to a significant NBA matchup between the Sacramento Kings and the Cleveland Cavaliers, which has garnered over 10,000 searches. This uptick in interest is likely driven by the upcoming game scheduled for January 23, 2026, as indicated by the live score and stats coverage from CBS Sports.

In addition, there is heightened attention surrounding this matchup because of injury reports that have emerged, specifically noting the absence of two key starters from the game. According to a report from Sports Illustrated, these injuries could impact the performance of both teams, leading fans and analysts to search for updates and implications for the game.

The combination of an exciting matchup and critical player injuries has spurred many fans to seek out information related to the teams, their current standings, and possible game strategies. This has contributed to the increased search volume for “Kings vs. Cavaliers” as people prepare for the game and assess the implications of the injuries on the outcome.

Are we talking book or movie. In the movies they scale him to match Gandalf. So he stomps.
S
Supply-Slut • 120 points
I still can’t believe they put him on par with a being that could dance with a fucking balrog or even Sauron

Bro, PJ even did his *horse* dirty in that scene: >In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl. A great black shape against the fires beyond he loomed up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgûl, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed, and all fled before his face. >All save one. There waiting, silent and still in the space before the Gate, sat Gandalf upon Shadowfax: Shadowfax who alone among the free horses of the earth endured the terror, unmoving, steadfast as a graven image in Rath Dínen.
T
thedougbatman • 106 points
>did his \*horse dirty Uhm excuse me. You hath committed the same offense, for Gandalf does not ride some horse. He is *permitted* by Shadowfax, Lord of Horses, to be his rider. This is no mere “horse”; Shadowfax is capable of understanding human speech, has legendary speed that is fast enough to match that of the flying fell beasts that the Nazgûl intellect used during the Siege of Gondor. His stamina was bravery were unmatched by any creature, as Shadowfax did not flinch to the terror radiating from the presence of the Witch-King of Angmar. So devine a creature Shadowfax was that the steed was permitted to sail west to the Undying Lands with Gandalf after destruction of the ring. Put some respect on his name. Edit: forgot to include this beauty in my reply! Shame Dougbatman, shame. ![gif](giphy|vxuTlk8HpKYdG)

Excuse me? Did you just call Shadowfax, prime Meara having graced Middle Earth with his presence, a horse?
T
thedougbatman • 36 points
Forgive me Eru Ilúvatar for I have sinned. Shadowfax is also the Lord of all 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limiteds. Tolkien didn’t publish that but it’s also true…. As it is the name of my car. Most models are either 180 or 270 horse power… mine requires but one. And yes I did just sin a second time by saying my car has 1 horsepower. Please revisit my first sentence. Lmao.

My Jeep Grand Cherokee offers prayers to Lord Shadowfax before every meal. All horse power stems from his Horseness.

My 2019 Jeep Cherokee Limited also bows to Lord Shadowfax. These Michigan winters are but a trivial matter thanks to the power you have bestowed upon us!

To think that all PJ needed was to have the Witch King hear the horn just BEFORE the “he breaks Gandalf’s staff”, like in the book. I love PJ adaptation but “Witch King breaks Gandalf’s staff” and “Aragorn kills the Mouth of Sauron” feel wrong.
K
Keeper151 • 1 points
With you on the staff-breakage, but disagree with the decapitation. That snaggletoothed orcfucker was a black numenorean, literally a traitor to Aragorn’s entire bloodline and ancestor civilization. Then he had to pull out the mithril mail and rub a “victory” in Aragorn’s face (in quotes because it was bullshit, but Aragorn didn’t know that) with a bigass grin on his disgusting face. Imagine the visceral hatred that figure would invoke, and the utter loss of losing not only a friend, but your only hope against the darkness. Fucker is lucky he got killed quick. I’d have flung myself on him, but that’s why Aragorn is a lord of men and I am but a humble foreman.
J
Jellywell • 2 points
Nah. Aragorn killed a diplomat while under a truce to negotiate. Nobody with any common sense would do that, ever, especially not Aragorn, who famously rejected the One Ring itself
S
Supply-Slut • 2 points
Yeah the films are fantastic, but there is plenty of individual choices that were bad. In addition to those: they did faramir’s whole character dirty. One change I liked was theoden’s death speech. It just made more sense to take Eomer’s portion and fit it into Theoden’s speech instead of trying to film that speech in the midst of the battle. Not that it doesn’t work in the book, I just don’t think it would have hit as hard on film if they didn’t adjust it.

KnightQuestoris • 12 points
His powerlevel isn‘t really clear in the book. Both he and Gandalf are confident that they will stomp the other. He also performs a impressive feat of magic when destroying the gate of Minas Tirith. Edit: also being a „higher“ being doesn‘t automatically equal more combat power in Tolkien‘s book. There are instances of non-maia characters like Ecthelion or Glorfindel defeating Balrogs.

There is a reason Sauron plays 4d chess majority of the time instead of just waltzing around 1vEverything. In Tolkien’s world if godlike beings decide to take mortal vessels they take on mortal qualities, like being killed.
B
BasicMatter7339 • 4 points
Gandalf, balrogs and sauron are quite literally same species, that being minor gods/ greater spirits while the witch king of angmar was just a dude transformed into a wraith / a minor spirit

I feel like movies do this a lot where they feel they need to underpower certain characters for some reason. Like they’re afraid to show them as strong as they’re supposed to be
T
The-Duke-of-Delco • 1 points
Yea it’s just weird tho cuz Gandalf would stomp him 10/10 times lol.
T
Tbob217 • 9 points
I feel like they scaled down Gandalf to match him. The passage in the books that depict their interaction is such an epic scene, and a totally different vibe from what you see in the movie

Well… Not sure if you take TW3 B&W as canon but if Geralt can fight a higher vampire he can occasionally punch far above his weight. He’d need prep to do it though. Specifically knowledge that he’s fighting some kind of wraith and needs the best potions possible for that purpose. Generally speaking though, he’d probably lose.

CDPR holds the rights to create games, so whatever they do is canon. It wouldn’t make sense otherwise

You mayyyyy want to double check that one, amigo. Andrew Sapkowski has written and published the final book that ends Ciri’s saga as being the Child of Elder Blood. Spoiler alert: the true ending is not even remotely close to any of the options in the game! Highly recommend checking out the books/audio books! Sapkowski released a new book in 2025 called Crossroads of Ravens and it is set when Geralt is 18 and his first expedition out of Kaer Morhen as a Witcher. It is incredible! Also, the book gives us a birthdate for Geralt. He was born in 1211, and Witcher 3 is set in 1272, so he is actually 61 as opposed to the long held belief that he was around 87 during the Wild Hunt.

“Child of the Elder Blood” is a quest in Witcher 3, no? I may be out of date, but I thought Ciri’s story ends with “The Lady of the Lake” novel. But I don’t think anything in there contradicts the Witcher 3, as it takes place after those events. Sapkowski leaves Geralt and Yennifer in an ambiguous state and Ciri’s story isn’t exactly wrapped up (Just the Saga) either. The events of the Witcher game series all take place after these events (Witcher 1 might not, but it’s been a long time since I played it) and Geralt refers to his book ending a few times in Witcher 2 and 3. But thank you for letting me know there is a new book release. Didn’t even pop up on my radar! Bye Bye weekend!

Nah, entire plot of the witcher 3 cannot be cannon to the books for one simple reason – everyone knows ciri is emhyr’s daughter. At the end of the books he married fake ciri to gain claim to cintra. If she then died and then he revealed that actually Ciri is his daughter so he pretended to marry his own daughter, lied to everyone about her and now plans to put a girl who haven’t spent a day in court since the was 11 as his heir (who might as well be another fake since no one knows how actual ciri looks). Like, no one is going to buy it and Emhyr would probably lose a lot of support and end up assassinated eighter way with ciri being assasinated soon after. And as to a second game – Iorveth would not be alive since it’s known for a fact that only one Scoia’tael commander managed to evade execution. Also Djikstra acts horribly out of character all the time (along with many others). Events of third northern war also don’t match up with what we know happens in the future with many character and lands

Geralt laying pipe on multiple baddies at once. That’s about as man as they come. Just because he can’t have children doesn’t mean he’s not a man.
T

Yeah in the books he uses his third sword quuuiiittteee often lol.

That’s not an actual enchantment protecting the WK, even though he talks as though it is; it’s a prophecy that the one to eventually take him down will not be a man.
N
Noe_b0dy • 3 points
I mean wouldn’t that also mean whoever looked into the future to make the prophecy saw he wouldn’t be killed by Geralt?
H
HotOlive799 • 12 points
Which isn’t a thing. It wasn’t that no man may kill him, but rather his end fate had been seen and it wouldn’t come by the hand of a man
A
Afraid-Ad-4296 • 2 points
I don’t remember that ever being stated but that’s very possible, but either way imo more importantly merrys dagger is just about the only thing in the setting that could make him killable, so by all accounts he has every reason to believe his is immortal.
H
HotOlive799 • 3 points
It was never stated in any of Tolkiens writing that he couldn’t fall by the hand of a man. That whole thing stemmed from the vision that Glorfindel had after the WitchKing fled at the mere sight of Glorfindel approaching him. Earnur wanted to give chase, but in that moment Glorfindel had a vision of the Witch Kings end. He then said something along the lines of “far off yet is his doom, but not by the hands of man” in other words, his fate was known at that moment, but it wouldn’t come by the hands of a man.
